Smells very pleasant, there's a subtle hint of fireplace smokiness to it but it's more generally a fresh scent. It sort of smells like when you've just put a candle out, specifically ones that are scented like sea breeze, cotton or fresh clothes. The crackling is very soothing in the evening, though it does rarely have a tendency to 'buzz' for want of a better word which can be a little annoying, though certainly not to the point of having to put the candle out. Surprisingly it doesn't actually give off that much light, most likely to the shape of the flame...The flame burns very inconsistently, but I feel that's part of the charm. Don't expect a constant, tall flame across the whole wick. It moves and dances and sometimes certain parts of the wick won't seem to be lit at all. This makes the candle fairly dim, and more akin to a log fire that's starting to burn out, with a general low flame with small wisps that pop up now and then. The flame is still pretty, and nice to look at but it's not quite what the marketing would lead you to believe.Overall it's a very nice candle, the wax melts very quickly and takes around 30-40 minutes to melt across the full width so it doesn't tunnel and flood the wick (unless you only burn it for very short periods, as with any candle) and I've had mine going for a good 15 hours or so now and there's plenty of wax left so I'm optimistic about meeting the 80 hour burn time claim. I very much enjoy burning this over conventional candles due to the crackling and the hearthwick certainly makes for an unusual and attractive flame, just not as spectacular as it claims to be. Far superior to a Yankee candle, though I've only ever had one, and much nicer than general pillar candles as a treat.

This candle is amazing, just leave the lid off and the fragrance fills the room - don't even need to light it. Although, you will light it because the sound of a crackling fire is very relaxing. Bonus, it lasts for forever, or at least it seems that way.

Unlike other candles this is not a sickly sweet synthetic scent, it really does snell like a fireside. I love the crackle that comes with the burning wick. they do last but I find this shape not as long lasting as the upright version.

This large wood-wick candle was given as a gift to me and is the second one like it I have had. The candle itself has a unique feature, as the name suggests and it is a wooden wick. As well as giving an even burn of the candle, it has the added bonus of crackling and almost roaring like a fireplace. I really love this effect, especially on a cold winters night, when the weather outside is horrible and I am cosy with a glass of wine!For anyone with a smart TV or the ability to cast Youtube onto the TV, I would recommend getting cosy in some jammies, searching for "fireplace" on youtube and light the candle. you will have the crackles and smells of the fire while the TV will almost be transformed into a fireplace by the video on screen- quite mesmerising.The scent of the candle is quite sweet, with a woody, charred follow up scent. It is actually quite like a campfire smell, but much nicer and doesn't cover your clothes and hair for ages. It is subtle enough that you can smell it, but it is in no way overpowering.Burn time for me with the first one was actually only 4 or 5 nights, which was disappointing, but I had it on easily for about 7 hours each time (I do love candles). I now realise that with the size of the wick, this means that the wax is burned up quickly, so I am now careful to burn in shorter bursts now to make it last longer (ensuring the wax pool reaches the glass on all sides first) Officially the burn time is up to 80 hours.Unlike traditional candles, there is no need to trim the wick of this candle as it just reduces itself. I would recommend this candle, and would definitely buy it again, but would be sure to be mindful of the burn time each night.
