Does this crimper cut excess cable off as it crimps?

Hi, no it does not. You need to trim the cores to length, push them into your RJ45 and then crimp. This tool does either 6 or 8 pin connectors and there is a stoper so you can not push the connector to far or to short, it is a nice crumpet and worth the cost. Hope this helps

is this suitable for cat 6 cable?

Yes. We have two of these and use them for Cat6. They work perfectly.

Knipex crimper. Is the 97 51 10 SB different from the 97 51 10 ?

I don’t think so. I think they have just missed out the SB. But the SB has done wonders for me regardless of a few nitty gritty issues with a few of them. It is wonderfully light. Stripping rj45 is crisp and crimping is almost on point depending on the circumference of the cable (basically if the rj45is a bit thicker than usual then the connectors will stay on firm with this crimper at the sleeve, however if the rj45 is its usual thinness then the connector slips off and is annoying with the standards I work in. I have high standards basically
