Great CPU for amazing performance without the faff of overclocking
Bought this for a gaming rig and home office PC. It performs amazingly well. I really can't be doing with all the hassle with overclocking and all the associated extra cooling required. I just wanted a high-performing processor from the get-go; and this is it.Some motherboards will require a BIOS update to accept Kaby Lake gen CPUs, but that's quite simple to do yourself (using a Skylake CPU) or by asking the motherboard vendor to do it before you take delivery of the board. Some mobos are Kaby Lake ready anyway.Because this CPU is not strictly overclockable, it runs cool, even during gaming sessions or intensive rendering etc. The stock cooler can be set to run on a very low speed (via BIOS config) to make the PC almost silent, especially when using an SSD instead of a traditional mechanical hard drive.Being a high performance CPU it is a fantastic match with mid to high-end GPUs to make a superb gaming rig. I know a lot of gamers would opt for the "K" version of the CPU, but honestly, I run several "AAA" titles, all at maximum settings with stunning performance.Anyway, I highly recommend this chip. Not cheap (when compared to Ryzen, for example) but I think it is still value for money.

Excellent processor, get an after-market cooler unless you like high-frequency motorised cows.
So far, it has been snappy and responsive. It is not the unlocked one, but if you don't care about overclocking and getting every last cycle, then save a few pounds and get this one. I paired it with an Asus Prime B250-PRO, but see what I wrote on that one about updating the BIOS, and other bits. If you are doing heavy duty work, 3D design, video, Unreal Engine 4 (Games design) then this is what you should be looking at, if just casual gaming and you don't care about top frame rates, look at a 7'th generation Core i5 (doesn't have hyperthreading) and spend the difference on a better graphics card.*Be aware*, however, if you pair a 7'th gen CPU with an older chipset (110, 150, 170) then the chances are that unless the boards come with an updated BIOS, you might find you need a 6'th gen chip to boot it...! Be sure to get a 200 series chipset.Oh, and I'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that it comes with an 'Intel Inside' sticker, complete with a long paragraph of legal text granting you a non-exclusive right to display the logo :) Thanks Intel -- Licensing rights of your logo was my main concern. Most companies just include a sticker. It comes with a fan included, however... you might want to get an aftermarket cooler. While it is not loud, under load, it does sound like a distant high-frequency cow -- really, imagine revving-up a motorised cow. If you are sound sensitive, or have OCD like me, then it will drive you up the wall, hence a good cooler will be next on my list.Summary - Very good, Not for overclockers, better for heavy workloads, fan goes "Mooo" a lot under load.

Item good quality but wrong CPU
My son ordered this item but there was confusion with the CPU and therefore this item was incorrect. We had a little difficulty arranging the return due to an error message that kept appearing but once contact was made with the seller they quickly arranged the return and refund.

Great Cpu
Awesome Cpu on my Asus z270f it automatically over-clocks to 4.1ghzt based on the bios software. The thing i dont understand z boards automatically overclock these cpus to 4.1ghzt all cores and 4.2 on a single core as a boost frequency. Now with the decent cooler u should get the K version as you can push the i5 7600k to 4.4ghzt to 4.5ghzt that's a different 200 to 300 mhzt its a increase of a few fps but not enough to warrant to buy the k version and fiddle around with voltage and cpu vcore ect..... which at this exact moment in time is the same price as the 7600 none k. If you have a decent cooler then get the 7600k and OC to 4.4 to 4.5 ghzt which this chip can easily hit. But if you want to just game and get 1080p pair this up with a gtx 1060 and nearly all games will run at 1080p 60fps at ultra/high settings this goes great with a gtx 1060.

Upgraded my old i3 to this i7, it works well, the end!
The headline says it all. Easy to install and works well for gaming and other PC applications.

Great CPU, massive upgrade for gaming from my Pentium ...
Great CPU, massive upgrade for gaming from my Pentium G4560. It's runs a LOT hotter even though it has only an 11 watt difference in TDP (54 watts vs 65 watts) on an aftermarket cooler (Arctic Freezer Pro 7.) Idle they both run about the same which is around 30 degrees but under load it gets above 70 degrees which is a lot compared to the Pentium which topped out around 40-50. It's the only downside really as my PC is now a bit louder but the performance gain is well worth it. I have a feeling the stock cooler would be even louder so the only thing I would say if you're thinking about buying a 7700 is 1) go for it and 2) buy a decent and quiet cooler.

Great general purpose CPU that will last years.
Purchased for a new machine I built, for no other reason than to have a fast processor that will last me a few years and provide all the CPU I will ever need whether gaming, coding and all the other things I do.This version comes with its own cooler, it does the job, note that only the processors with a K at the end come without a cooler as they can be overclocked. So unless you want to tinker with that kind of thing this is more than adequate for everyone's needs unless you know otherwise.Performance is great, it handles everything I throw at it.

AMAZON RIPPING ME OFF
So, I get my delivery at 9pm at night UK time. I was originally annoyed with this, I open the box and there's my I7 7700 box. I grab it, open it up and there's NO CPU IN THE BOX! I am so god damn angry right now!! Amazon would like to "investigate" which means I'm handing them £259 for absolutely nothing.
