Q: How do i know if i need dark or clear wax? or do i use both?

IT DEPENDS ON THE EFFECT OR OUTCOME THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ON YOUR PROJECT. DISTRESSED OR VINTAGE LOOK REQUIRES THE DARK WAX AND THEN THE CLEAR WAX.

No you will not. You need to get orbital sander or belt sander. Sand paint off 80 or 60 grit sand paper. If you put wax on top of paint it will look like colored wax on top of paint. Dark wax will enrichen a wood beam but paint needs to be removed-not hard to do
