Best MTB shoes ever!
Took these out for the first time today for a mountain bike ride and I must say they are awesome!!!!!!My feet never slipped for the entire ride. The bottoms of these shoes are made of a very "sticky" rubber if you will. This provided excellent grip on my platform pedals for the entire ride up and down hill. I think Five Ten has just made a loyal customer for life.Pros: Well built, stitched together, not glued. Construction of shoes seems very durable, right down to the laces.Tread is very grippy, excellent for mountain biking, bouldering, parkour and short hikes. Could probably use as an every day shoe if you wanted to.The design is pretty awesome too, love the colors. The fit was about the same as your average skate shoe which tend to run a little wide. For me that's good because I have wide feet as most people do. The fit was true to size and the shoes are very comfy. (I usually wear a 13 and had no issues with the size 13 I ordered.)Cons: No arch support. HOWEVER, this is expected so I can't really count it as a con. For mountain biking you don't want shoes with arches, you won't grip the pedals as good because less of the shoe will make contact with the pedal. So for those of you who need arch support, I would recommend only wearing these for biking or for short periods of time. You will want to stick to your shoes with arch support for your everyday use.Otherwise, these shoes get two big thumbs up from me and I will recommend to friends, family and strangers!

Great fit. Can be used for pretty much anything.
One of the best shoes I've ever purchased. These are super comfortable and can be used for pretty much everything and does not need to be broken in. I use these for mountain biking and the rubber is just amazing. Even with wet soles, these will grip your pedals, rocks and anything else on the trail. I also used these for Hawaii because I didn't want to bring another pair of footwear. My wife was using hiking boots with vibram soles and these shoes were gripping to wet roots and rocks when her boots couldn't. The Stealth rubber on these shoes are seriously the best.

So far, they are the gecko's choice - APPROACH WITH SINCERITY, AND ALL WILL BE WELL (Tao Te Ching)
5.10 used to be the only climbing shoe for wide feet, so I've always lusted after their approach shoes. Was going to save these for some real mountain and winter desert stuff, but this slippery morning, I'm wearing them now. Wet rocks, rain, vegetation helped along by 150%+ normal precipitation, and the Stealth Rubber STICKS! Haven't been in any running streams or on any faces yet . . .Almost no other soles really do stick, except one really cheap oriental brand, which is slightly too narrow for real feet, can't take water, and breaks down fast. The hike/bike/climb and "pro" sport stores away from rock climb meccas don't even know what approach shoes are, and I've asked for several years.Don't be put off by sole lugs - this minimal suction cup-looking pattern sticks to everything so far, more secure than anything I've ever felt except actual climbing shoes. I am GLAD i sprung for them (they never go on sale). The grip is so good that however long they survive, they remain worth it. I hope & expect 5.10 to wear well down to bare feet.I normally wear 2E to 4E in running shoe; Merrill has made some nice wide lasts - toe boxes - and I stocked up on them. But M's remain slippery, and not good for edging or even low-mid 5. YDS.Boots are for people with no calves and potato chip ankles, so this is the shoe for high country packing & scrambling (unless you're putting 60+lbs on your back) and mixed terrain. I always carry a pair of boots for day 3 or later on longtrips, but unless in snow they are only for pushing tired feet - my 3 pairs of hiking boots are 6 to 25 years old.SO the forefoot is super comfortable, even though they are called D width. Heel probably medium, but for me good grasp.I had thought I would have to go to Bend or Bishop, but 5.10 has put the best approach shoe (practically the only one!) through Amazon, and came through!

Five Ten's are truly the greatest adventuring shoes
Originally I had planned on getting Five Ten Freeriders for mountain biking, but a lot of the biking I do is destination biking, so having a shoe that hikes as well as it bikes is essential. This shoe is a perfect compromise between the two for me. The sole gives great support and rigidity for being on a pedal for a long amount of time, yet is able to flex for hiking and climbing. These shoes combined with some great platform pedals has drastically changed the way I ride, almost to the point of feeling like I'm riding clipless. I will definitely be buying another pair for backups, or even just wearing on a daily basis.PS: I did buy one size up, as I had heard that Five Tens tend to be on the small size, and the fit is phenomenal.

Very disappointing as the pair that do fit well are by far the most comfortable pair of shoes i've had
This is my third pair of Five Ten shoes. All three are a size 9 US, all three fit differently.Very disappointing as the pair that do fit well are by far the most comfortable pair of shoes i've had, but the inconsistency with their sizing means i'm going back to Merrell again. Five Ten, get your sizing sorted!Living in Australia, there is nowhere locally to buy Five Ten shoes, so buying online becomes very expensive when a pair doesn't fit as expected based on buying the same size as previously.

Great MTB shoes, also fashionable and very comfortable for day to day use too.
Great 5.10 shoes for my taste. I prefer wide toe box shoes and these have a wide enough area for me to give my appendixes a little room to wiggle. The rubber is exactly as advertised, very sticky and great for flat MTB bike pedals, as well as being reasonably grippy when you have to set foot on the trail (again - thanks to the super sticky rubber). May just buy a second pair to have them around for when my first one bites the dust.
