We have tried a few of these coding toys from Learning Resources and although they have been brilliant fun the main issue we have had with them is the transmission of the code from the remote to the toy. Happily this Coding Crew car has the actual input on the car itself so no issues with having to transmit the code and also less batteries too! Win Win!The car has three skins; a Fire Truck, Police Car and Construction Vehicle. There is a little toggle on the front which switches modes and the light on top changes colour respectively. The car itself does different secret codes for each vehicle and can be switched between secret codes and coded driving by pressing the light on top. All a little confusing to explain I know, which is why I have done a little video which might help you understand.On top of all this you have mission cards which have little stories on them with missions you can complete as well as some accessories that attach to the vehicles etc. All in all it is a brilliant if slightly pricey toy which is really well made and robust enough to handle "creative play"Our boy Charlie has given it 100% so he's happy and us grownups like it too. If you can afford the price tag its a high quality educational toy which I can't fault at all, very happy to recommend.

The media could not be loaded. This game is brilliant and you can effectively do so much with it! I have a 5yo and a nearly 2yo so we love all of the learning games which we can play together. It takes some practise but once you get used to it there's so many things you can actually do with it. It's a fantastic product to help children learn coding, to think and alayze how they are going to get around and avoid obstacles! The car is interchangeable and has sounds which alterntate to suit which car is being used. Its better to use in a hard floor rather than a carpet as the jigsaw pieces lift up but we found it better on the table. Overall great learning game for little ones.

The media could not be loaded. Got this for my computer and cars loving 4 year old for Christmas and after playing with it a little myself I can’t wait to give it to him. Comes all boxed so can be gifted and everything was well packaged inside. There’s a mat (best on a harder floor or flat carpet) in the form of 9 puzzle pieces, some cards and a couple of extras like barrels.I used the vehicle on the floor as didn’t want to get too much out of the box ahead of Christmas. It’s easy to pop each vehicle cover on and off and pick your code. It remembers up to 50 code moves which is fantastic and I think would mean this stays interesting for a good few years with a lot of potential combinations of games and puzzles.Just remember if giving as a gift that you have 3 AAA batteries for the car as not included.

This game is not really about coding. It requires some spatial awareness and the basic idea of a sequence but beyond that there’s no room to grow into more complex concepts. All you can do is get it to follow a sequence of moves. The distance sensor only gets used for the pre-programmed modes, not for anything you can code yourself. So it might amuse a 4 year old for a while but they will quickly grow out of it.On top of that, the cardboard playing area is very small, and the motors are not up to driving on anything but the smoothest, flattest surface.Overall, I’m much more disappointed than other reviewers, though to be fair it’s amusing for a 4 year old for a while.

Got this for my boys for Christmas and they love it.This coding crew arrived beautifully packaged. Inside the box you will receive 9 map puzzle town, interactive setting pieces, Hub car with 3 different characters shells, coding cards. You will need 3x AAA batterys as they are not included.Everything is made very colourful and sturdy. This toy is great to develop basic coding skills, math skills but also logical thinking for kids. The car make cool, real sounds and the attachments are easy to change.Great educational toy. Would be amazing for Christmas gift or birthday present.Great quality and value for money. Highly recommended

Fantastic learning resource kit this ok the box arrived a bit beaten up but to be honest that looks like someone stood on it in transit.The contents were perfectly fine though (just hope it was a one off because as a gift this would have not looked good)The item arrived and the tape sealing the box had been cut open (I say cut as it was a clean cut rather than the tape just coming loose at one end) I've checked and all the pieces still seem to be there so I'm not too sure what's happened.A very early introduction for coding as the vehicles can be be programmed to follow movements, however it is a learning device too showing you which car to build to complete tasks.Play mode allows children to discover new sounds and tricks for the vehicles which are sure to delight.All the parts are well thought out, made and should provided a fun learning resource for years to come.

The media could not be loaded. Got this for my 4 year and 7 year old kids. Both got interested instantly. Its quite logical game, kids need to think and program the car accordingly to reach at the desire position on the map/board provided.There are 9 town map puzzle cards to keep kids busy. Ideal for gift purpose. Needs batteries 3 AAA batteries (not provided) to start with but batteries last weeks. Used it for almost a month and no problem.Very educational as it helps kids to improve problem solving and coding skills.

My 5 year old picked up on it quick and loves it 😊.

For this for my son and he was so excited. Unfortunately it's hard to use the road as it keeps lifting and won't lay flat

Ho preso questo Switcheroo Crew S per la mia piccola di 7 anni, per introdurla al mondo della programmazione e , soprattutto, per sfatare il pregiudizio che questo campo sia prevalentemente appannaggio degli uomini.. vedremo come andrà a finire.Provo un pò a spiegare in cosa consiste questo prodotto, a cosa può servire, che possibilità offre, ecc. Perché devo ammettere all'inizio ho anche io avuto difficoltà a capirlo.Il prodotto è composto essenzialmente da:1) una macchinina personalizzabile i tre modi diversi (che chiamerò "robot" d'ora in poi), con 4 tasti di direzione sulla parte superiore2) una serie di 9 tessere per comporre una strada di città3) una serie di accessori (che vediamo in dettaglio dopo)Il concetto base è impostare una sequenza di direzioni premendo i tasti sul corpo del robot, in modo da fare eseguire al robot la sequenza programmata.Ogni volta che si preme il tasto GO centrale si manda al robot la sequenza di programmazione e il robot la esegue immediatamente.****** Ma cosa può fare in definitiva questo robot?Sappiate che il robot ha due modalità di lavoro CODE oppure GAME );vediamo innanzitutto la modalità CODEIn tale modalità la macchina /robot deve essere programmata per seguire la strada "disegnata", cercando di comporre il codice diprogrammazione giusto per mandarla alla destinazione. Le carte indicano le "sfide" da risolvere.Il robot si può muovere in 4 modi :avanti (freccia arancio)indietro (freccia rossa)90 gradi sinistra (verde)90 gradi destra (blu)In modalità GAME esegue delle combinazioni speciali riportate sulle carte in dotazione (non ve le anticipo, sono tutte da scoprire).In tale modalità riesce anche a riconoscere se sul percorso ci sono degli ostacoli (tra gli accessori in dotazione)**** CONSIDERAZIONI FINALIAmo tutti i giochi che non solo divertono, ma contemporaneamente insegnano e aprono la testa stimolando l'uso della fantasia e della creatività.Nel caso di questo tutte queste caratteristiche ci sono tutte: c'è il divertimento sia nel realizzare programmi sia nell'utilizzare i codici pre impostati; c'è l'apprendimento perchè la programmazione in generale viene affrontata come un gioco , ma prepara aquesto tipo di attività quando verrà incontrata in futuro.Infine c'è, e in grande dose, la possibilità di impiegare fantasia e creatività.Ecco alcune idee che potrebbero essere divertenti:- costruire un labirinto con il lego e programmare l'auto per uscirneIn definitiva non posso che lodare chi ha pensato a questo gioco e suggerirlo a tutti quelli che amano stuzzicare l'apprendimento in modo divertente e creativo di cose non solo riservate ai "grandi" (ma neanche SOLO ai bambini maschi!).

The media could not be loaded. Ich habe selbst Informatik studiert und programmiere beruflich und privat sehr gerne und viel. Zusätzlich habe ich bereits mehrere Jahre Erstsemester der Informatik in verschiedenen Tutorien betreut und auch verschiedene Ansätze zum Programmieren-Lernen für Schüler ausprobiert. Nicht zuletzt durfte ich schon mehrfach ähnliche Sets für Vorschüler für Amazon testen.Dieses Set, rund um das programmierbare Fahrzeug der Coding Crew, schnitt bei meinem Test herausragend gut ab. Meine vierjährige Tochter war und ist sehr interessiert und probiert eigenständig neue „Programme“ aus. Ich bin geradezu begeistert, wenngleich mir durchaus kleinere Fehler in der Anleitung, sowie der doch etwas hohe Preis auffallen.Einen Kauf kann ich sehr empfehlen, wenn die rund 80€ nicht wehtun, denn hierin steckt wirklich Förderungspotenzial für die Kleinen!🔸 [Material & Verarbeitung] ✔️Das Auto, inklusive der drei austauschbaren Karosserien ist äußerlich praktisch vollständig aus Kunststoff gefertigt. Ich erkenne keine Anzeichen mangelnder Qualität, insbesondere keinen Geruch oder merkliche Verarbeitungsfehler. Insgesamt wirkt das Fahrzeug sehr robust und hochwertig, wie ich es bei einem Spielzeug in der Preisklasse erwarte.An der Unterseite sind Metallschrauben sichtbar, ansonsten gibt es keine sichtbaren Verarbeitungsspuren. Das Auto scheint mir damit sehr beständig.Die anderen Bestandteile sind hingegen aus Karton und werden darum wohl weniger lange halten, was insbesondere bei der Puzzle-Straßenmatte etwas bemängeln muss, da diese doch maßgeblich ist, um alle Funktionen voll auszunutzen. Hier hätte man in meinen Augen zumindest etwas stabileren Karton verwenden dürfen, vielleicht mehr wie bei Brettspielen. Ähnlich schwierig empfinde ich die Karten und Pappaufsteller.Die zusätzlichen Kunststoffteile, Tonnen und Wassertropfen, sind gut designt aber wirken ebenfalls weniger wertig als das Fahrzeug.Zusammengefasst: Tolles Fahrzeug, dafür hat man vielleicht etwas beim Zubehör gespart.🔸 [Anleitung & Installation] (✔️)Es liegt eine Anleitung in Form eines großen Beipackzettels (Faltblattes) bei. Dieses umfasst die Anleitung spanisch, französisch, englisch und deutsch, was allgemein für alle Texte, insbesondere auch die Missionskarten gilt, die stets viersprachig gehalten sind.Ein Softwareinstallation oder dergleichen ist nicht notwendig. Das Fahrzeug funktioniert völlig autark, direkt nachdem Batterien eingelegt sind. Ein Computer oder eine Handy-App sind für den Betrieb nicht notwendig.Eventuell kann man das Wechseln der Karosserie als eine Art „Installation“ betrachten. Diese wird quasi aufgesteckt.Anzumerken ist, dass in der Anleitung bei den sogenannten „Secret Codes“ (siehe unten) Fehler existieren. Auf den Karten sind die Codes aber korrekt vermerkt.🔸 [Energieversorgung] ✔️Bei der Energieversorgung des Autos setzt man auf AAA-Batterien (3 davon). Diese liegen nicht bei. Da auch Nickel-Anhydrid-Akkus funktionieren, das sind die günstigen aufladbaren Batterien, mit 1,2 V Spannung anstelle der üblichen 1,5 V, ist der Verzicht auf einen internen Akku tatsächlich eine gute Idee, da man so die Akkus einfach und kostengünstig austauschen kann, sobald sie zu schwächeln beginnen. Letztlich wundert es mich aber ein wenig, dass man in der Preisklasse nicht noch ein paar Batterien spendiert hat.🔸 [Design] ✔️Das Design ist kindgerecht eher comicartig gehalten, was besonders an den Augen der dargestellten Fahrzeugen erkennbar ist. Gleichzeitig achtet man darauf, dass alle Objekte, auch für keine Kinder, klar identifizierbar sind. Besonders originell empfinde ich hier die Wassertropfen, wie bei uns mittlerweile in zahlreichen anderen Spielsituationen, z.B. als Regen, zum Einsatz kamen – eine echte Bereicherung. Zusammengefasst ist das design also sehr stimmig und konsistent.🔸 [Funktionen & Bedienung] ✔️Der Funktionsumfang ist überraschend umfangreich. Das Auto ist tatsächlich ein kleiner Roboter und dabei sogar mit etwas Sensorik ausgestattet. Grundsätzlich gibt es einen Schalter, welcher bestimmt, ob sich das Auto als Feuerwehrfahrzeug, Polizeiauto oder Baustellenfahrzeug versteht. Das bestimmt hauptsächlich die abgespielten Soundeffekte (z.B. Sirene bei Polizei) und teilwiese auch die Funktionen (s.u.). Ein weiterer Schalter, auf dem Dach (zwischen den Lichtern) schaltet zwischen zwei Steuermodi hin und her. Im ersten Modus, führt das Fahrzeug direkt die eingegebene Sequenz aus. Diese Sequenz wird mit den Pfeiltasten eingegeben (maximal 50 Kommandos) und anschließend mit dem gelben Kreis (in der Mitte der Pfeile) bestätigt. Die Ausführung ist hierbei überraschend präzise. Das Fahrzeug schafft sehr genau 90°-Wenden und kann bei korrekter anfänglicher Platzierung dem Straßenverlauf gut folgen. Absolute Perfektion nach mehr als 5 Aktionen erreicht das Auto zwar nicht, dennoch übertrifft man meine Erwartungen hier deutlich. Im zweiten Modus werden sogenannte „Secret Codes“ eingegeben. Das sind vordefinierte Tastenfolgen, die das Fahrzeug in ein dynamisches Bewegungsmuster vorgibt, beispielsweise dem Folgen von Objekte oder dem Stoppen vor einem Hindernis. Auch ein Suchmodus oder ein Demolision-Derby-Modus (hier rammt das Fahrzeug alles, was ihm in den Weg kommt) sind dabei. Hier kommt häufig der Sensor zum Einsatz, bei dem es sich wahrscheinlich um einen Ultraschall-Abstandsmesser an der Front handelt. Der Sensor ist ebenfalls beeindrucken präzise und reagiert im Abstand von wenigen Zentimetern (vielleicht 7-10 cm) sehr gut.Auf den Missionskarten wird jeweils ein Aufbau (auf der Straßenkarte oder freistehend) gezeigt, dazu eine Anweisung und eine kurze Story wie dass ein Feuer gelöscht werden müsste. Die Karten funktionieren grundsätzlich sehr gut. Das Potenzial wird aber absolut nicht ausgeschöpft, da man problemlos auch mehr Handlung (bis hin zu einem interaktiven Buch) oder komplexere Aufgaben hätte liefern können. Hier ist dann Fantasie gefragt, denn eigene Handlungen und Aufgaben sind ebenfalls gut umsetzbar. Tatsächlich hat meine Tochter hauptsächlich eigene Ziele verfolgt und die Karten mehr links liegen lassen.🔸 [Didaktik & Fachliches] ✔️Ich hatte zu Beginn nicht viel erwartet und wurde sehr positiv überrascht. Meine Tochter hat das System sofort angenommen und die Programmierung, und diese Bezeichnung ist hier zutreffend, eigenständig durchgeführt, sich sogar sukzessive selbst neue Ziele gesetzt. Ich konnte ihr praktisch beim Denken und Lernen zusehen, wenn sie ihre Programme eingab, besonders wenn sie nach 3-4 Befehlen kurz stoppte, um zu überlegen, wie das Fahrzeug dann stehen wird und in welche Richtung es abbiegen muss.Ich kann als Informatiker also klar bestätigen, dass hier effektiv Grundlagen der Programmierung und Algorithmik vermittelt werden und das absolut spielerisch, schon bei kleinen Kindern (meine Tochter ist 4). Voraussetzung ist natürlich, dass das Interesse der Kinder geweckt wird, was bei selbstfahrenden Autos (quasi einem kleinen Roboter) aber in der Regel gegeben ist.🔸 [Preis/Leistung] (✔️)Obwohl das Set tatsächlich funktioniert und sehr lehrreich sein kann, ist der Preis bemerkenswert. Ein Kauf wäre also eine Investition in etwas Vorwissen im Bereich der Informatik und Logik, für die Kleinen. Eine Erfolgsgarantie gibt es nicht, insofern muss man sich das Auto schon leisten können. Ich empfehle darum einen Kauf als echtes „Lernspielzeug“, wenn die rund 80€ Ihnen nicht wehtun.💜 Vielen Dank.
