Strathmore481-5 Softcover Art Sketch Journal, 5.5" X 8", Toned Tan, 112 Pages

There are only 24 sheets of paper in this journal. I'm a little annoyed that it's advertised as having "48 Pages", which, while technically correct, is not the same. Other than that, the paper quality is great, and seems to be the same as the hardcover journals. I use these for gouache painting and they've worked quite well.

I like the thickness of the mixed media paper and the soft cover. It makes a nice surface to create on.

this came sooooo well packaged. I was a bit worried that it might come bended but not only it was in a very thick cardboard box but also it was wrapped onto a very sturdy cardboard as well. <3have been using strathamore sketchbooks for months and am very satisfied with a quality

I have several of these Strathmore watercolor sketchbooks . I like the heavy weight paper for watercolor. Ordered for my 7 yo granddaughter.

The actual item is great. The pages are great quality. The only thing that I am confused about is how the cover got damaged. Like many of the comments, my cover got weirdly damaged. It looks like someone put my book on top of hot bubble wrap. Just super strange.I don’t know why this is still an issue if multiple people have had this issue. Also since these aren’t exactly cheap, I would like to have my drawing notebook not look like melted bubble wrap.So overall, great notebook overall but something weird is going on with the covers.

I actually really enjoy the mixed media sketchbook, I have one for my oil painting studies but I wish the soft cover one came in the 5.5 x 8.5 instead of just 5.5 x 8. I had accidentally purchased the hardcover one and ordered the softcover but realized the size difference. No idea why they do that. The softcover does get indents or scratches if you put it in your bag, so if that bothers you, get the hardcover one. Markers do bleed through but not too bad. If you want to paint with oils on this, just prime the pages. The picture shown is in my bigger sketchbook where I swatched a bit of markers and the size difference between the two smaller ones.

This is a great sketchbook. Here's why:* It's a little smaller than A4, a little taller than a square sketchbook.* A good number of pages to finish without being too few or too many.* The paper is very good, with some texture rather than none.* It works well for graphite, dip pens/ink, light watercolor, colored pencils.* Alcohol markers also work well but they do bleed to the other side (I place an extra sheet behind the page I'm working on to prevent further bleed through).* I like the soft cover--it's a nice change from the hardbound books I usually use and the book lies flat.The only issue I have is with Amazon's packaging. The sketchbook came in a flimsy plastic envelope with no padding whatsoever. There are deep grooves in the middle of the cover that are clearly pressure marks from some heavy object. Since the paper is fine with no bent corners I'm keeping it and will order more in future.I also want to note that I truly appreciate being able to order from Amazon as getting art supplies and other items is difficult or impossible in the small town where I live. But I hope Amazon will store and/or pack these sketchbooks more carefully in future.

This journal fits right in my bag hassle free, so I have it with me all the time ready to sketch. The page is not too small, so I enjoy the space I have for anecdotes and drawings.

Great for use with black ink. The GSM is nice and the pages have a nice smooth texture to them. Really happy with this little sketchbook.

Perfect!! Exactly as pictured.

The paper is thick enough and able to flat after painting, but the after few layers of watercolor, there are bits kept being wiped off from the cotton. I’m new to watercolor, not sure if there is a way to avoid it.
