Q: Tetra floating sticks used to sink slowly after a few minutes. the last container i bought, they don't sink... why ???

Because as it states in the title, they are floating sticks, not sinking ones. They should not be left in the tank long enough for them to sink as this will pollute the tank.

I do not have koi. I have cichlids it works great and cichlids

I am sorry, but I looked all over the bucket and did not see any expiration date. There is a toll free number on the bucket: 800-423-6458. It say if you have any questions call that number. Also, the bucket closes really tightly. I hope this helps you. Good Luck
