Castle: Unholy Storm
Loved the other books in this series, and am sure I will love this one too. Good story line and love the graphic art. This series is action packed and entertaining. Highly recommend it.

Not a mystery, not much of Derrick Storm, & not very good
The leading sentence needs to be that this is clearly the worst graphic novel in the Derrick Storm series. There is no real mystery involved, where each contact sends him one place and then the next, where he goes without question. The personality and character that was well developed in the first couple of books and carried along a bit in the third is thrown out, so we get a cypher of no character. The collection of interesting supporting characters in the other books is reduced to a single secondary character as Clara Strike becomes the world's dumbest CIA agent. And as Strike joins the story, there is a reference to the other books that is incomprehensible to anyone who hasn't read them. The big reveal on the primary villian's identity is irrelevant to the final solution of the case as they stumble from gun fight to fist fight to running around more than Doctor Who, with explosions and gunfire that reminds me of the A-Team television program in that no one seems to get hurt.Since they are on the book's cover, it isn't a spoiler to reference the zombie and voodoo elements that are more at home in Agents of Shield or Wonderland or Charmed than what anyone would think of as Derrick Storm. While the text provides a weak irrelevant-to-the-story "science" explanation of the zombies, they are illustrated with significant elements that are closer to the book cover's mystical undead than anything that would fit the explanation. And the graphic story-telling is badly handled: Storm and Strike outside an "escape vehicle" yelling to the drive to go while they are both standing outside the open door; several men with automatic weapons ambush them, then by the next page a man from the back of the group is alone with his gun aimed at Strike, while Storm comes from nowhere behind to hit him over the head; they are shot at by squads of men with automatic weapons they don't know how to aim, including one person with dog tags outside his shirt permanently set at 4-o'clock position. (Why would a hit man wear dog tags, anyway?) The art work itself has Storm and Strike looking enough like other books, but the visual story-telling is so clumsy, or badly handled, that it is often a distraction. This is the fourth graphic novel whose fictional DNA is that of an adaptation of a book by the fictional author Richard Castle. While the non-graphic Derrick Storm or Nikki Heat books are ghost written under the Castle name, these Marvel Comics books have the real creative talent named on the cover. The first two were by Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue DeConnick, and Peter David wrote the third. We get a totally new team for the fourth book, and what they provide is not a mystery with the established and growing character from the first three books.

Great read
I love comics and this one was no exception. Great story to add to my other books by Richard Castle. I really got into this comic.

Good quick read
I can see why the Derek Storm novels were popular in book form. The graphic novels are fun, quick to read, and still manage to put across some specific Castle style personality elements.

A comic that was not at all funny
I purchased this as a gift for my wife who has been enjoying the Nikki Heat series. When I realized that this was a comic book, I was very disappointed. There was nothing that suggested that to me when I was purchasing this as part of 4 books. My wife was willing to read this but I am not at all happy, with myself for not realizing this was a damn comic book, and with the advertising that did not seem to distinguish it from the two real books I did purchase. I try not to let the fact that I ended up with two comic books at a very serious price make me sick to my stomach. From now on, I will probably only purchase these books at a bookstore where I can see what I am buying.
