You get what you pay for!
Owned a Maelzel metronome when I was a student many years ago. Needed a metronome for a current student. Plastic housing creates a sharp sound. The Maelzel was solid wood and had a more mellow tone. This one from China will do for a beginner student. Price is right compared to the other.

Metronome beauty.
What a beauty and at a reasonable price. The faux wood is distinctive and doesn't look "cheap"at all..The "black wood finish" finish is lovely (I'm not usually a fan of black but this is exceptional). The mechanism works well and the design with the diamond on the door of the pyramid looks truly distinctive. It's like a fine furniture piece that keeps time and can be set to ring every 2,3,4,6,8 beats. The trapezoid panel when removed using the up/down sliding latch allows access to the pendulum weight to set the tempo and when not in use, acts as a cover to protect the mechanism from damage. AN ADD ON EDIT: I want to add that the ones (2) I got included a black lozenge (diamond) shape with gold piping around it that is not shown in the advert for this model. So I may have lucked out with a design feature that is not usually sold with this model of metronome :-)

Beautiful, yet practical
Definitely a piece you want displayed. The look is beautiful. And, based on experience, it’s durable. It got knocked off the desk to the floor... hold your breath... not a thing wrong with it- good to go!

Came quickly!
This is a Christmas gift so I can't review the product but it came before it was supposed to, and without any damages. It will be a hit at Christmas!

Metronome unbalanced
Just a decorative metronome... This metronome is waaaay out of tempo, a waste of money.
