Q: Are the wire brackets required? Can't I just screw the speaker to the bracket and the bracket to the panel? '65 Barracuda install.

These are for people who’s torsion bars get in the way of an install. Those metal brackets are junk and complete useless in about 99 percent of aftermarket 6x9s.
