First. We all need to understand. Any bike can be stolen no matter what bike lock you use. A bike lock is a deterrent. Like "hey steal the bike next to me, it does not have a lock it will be easy". That said this mini-7 is quite stout. Any thief will at least need to work a little, and carry the proper tools.This mini-7 was purchased for college student who would leave bike outside in a rack along with many many other bikes. So far so good.Its a safety/protection device. You cannot always put a price on safety/protection. However, I sure would be nicer if it was a bit less expensive.Pros:- great size- nice frame mount options- two keys included- optional theft insurance- pleasing color scheme- excellent build quality- reputable / trusted nameCons:- not clear/easy, cable storage on the frame- its small (duh its a mini, but be careful about buying this, it might be to small to lock both a wheel+frame to a solid support)- priceyWould I purchase again: YesWould I recommend to others: Yes

I did a bunch of research on which one of the Kryptonite and found the Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 Bike U-Lock with Cable, Heavy Duty Anti-Theft Bicycle U Lock was the best fit for my bikes. It's easy to use, fits well on the mount and doesn't move when riding. The 13mm Hardened Max Performance Steel is more than enough to secure bicycles and the extra cable is perfect for securing the front tire as well.Pros: Strong, secure, Anti-Theft Protection Offer; Up to $2,500 Reimbursement, Key Safe Program; Kryptonite will ship your first 2 keys for free, globally, in the event you lose them, holds in place in mount when riding, two keys included.Cons: A bit pricey for a bicycle lock, but peace of mind isn't always inexpensive.

I have no complaints concerning the purchase of this bike lock. It took me a while to figure out where to mount the holder so it is out of my way but eventually found the perfect spot. Since I have a girl’s bike, I do not have the extra bar in the middle. This lock is easy to remove and I feel my bike is as secure as it can possibly be.

So far it is holding up. We live in a generally safe area, where you can even see bikes without locks laying around. One is never too safe, so we still use ours.The lock mechanism came jammed upon arrival and we could not open it. We had to wiggle the key for a while until it finally gave in and were able to start using it. The lock mount attachment is kind of bad in my opinion. Only friction holds it to the bike, so naturally, it falls off and rotates to the sides very easily. You are better off just carrying the lock in a bag.

This lock has to be locked and unlocked a very particular way. It was tedious for me. I lost the keys so I have to order new keys. It seems very sturdy. I would still strongly recommend it for enhanced bike security. Tedious to put in place and tedious to remove.

This is an excellent medium-high security bike lock solution. I bought one for myself and for my wife, as we both ride regularly as commuters. The mini U is large enough to lock my bike to most bike racks, street signs, and parking meters. However, I cannot fit it around my frame, the rack, and a wheel. Because it is a smaller U lock shackle, you really must rely on the cable to secure your wheels to the bike. I do not live in a major metropolitan area or on a sizable University campus, so this is plenty secure for my regular needs.The bike frame mount is secure enough, but noisy. It rattles a lot. So I took it off and now keep the U lock on my belt or in a bag. Not a big deal but if you really mind rattling and road noise, I doubt you will like the frame mount solution.If you will be using larger rack structures to secure your bike, or need to fit a wheel in there, maybe go with a bigger U. But I have really enjoyed using this lock, and it is a convenient size for lugging around.I have used it almost daily for more than 2 months now, even biking and locking outside in the rain. The lock action is still smooth.

Amazing lock, kept my bike for almost 2 years now on a busy campus. Worth the money

It's easy to get into "analysis paralysis" when looking for bike locks on here. This one delivers on a few specific things I was looking for:1) You don't read too many reviews from people that bought a heavy duty lock, such as this, yet still got their bike stolen.2) I like that it comes with a cable. Even though I know it's only the U-Lock that truly protects the bike and that cables can easily be cut...wrapping it around your tires and other things thieves may want to steal provides that extra annoyance that can ward off those looking for a "quick grab".3) I like that the U-Lock can essentially be mounted anywhere on the bike. There are a few different locations they recommend mounting it, and having those options means you don't have to choose between mounting your bike lock or having a water bottle holder. You can finally have both.4) I like that it comes with 3 medium-duty keys that easily fit and turn inside the lock. I'm one of those people that will probably lose 1 or 2 keys of any set I am given, so this is great. Also, I never felt like I had to force the key to get it to turn (in fact, if you're forcing it you're probably doing it wrong).5) I like that the U-Lock buckles in on both sides, making it harder for someone to try and jam the lock off.All in all, if someone really wants to steal your bike, they will. But making it harder and more annoying for them to do so, and buying a heavy duty lock that will make their life difficult, significantly decreases the likelihood of that happening. I live in a medium-sized city (less than 1 million) where bike theft is very common and I feel comfortable leaving my bike locked up outside for hours with this one.
