Q: What base coat was used for the first picture of her holding the powder?

Hi there! Not sure if you found your answer but just in case here it is. Use a white gel polish to get the look in the pic. After you apply your color gel, cure then apply a no wipe gel topcoat and cure 60 seconds. Apply tiny amount of chrome powder (while nails are warm from lamp) and rub in. I’ve always found that my alcohol cleansed fingertip does the best. Then apply another coat of no wipe gel topcoat and cure the full 2 minutes. (I prefer to wipe the nails down with 100% rubbing alcohol prior to chrome application to insure a super glass like finish.) Hope this helps! 🙂

Q: Does it have to be aplyed over a gel polish?

if you want the chrome mermaid effect, you must apply it over no wipe top coat, atually no matter you apply gel polish or regular polish, only you have no wipe top coat then apply it and cured, you can get perfect effect as picture, could you understand ? if any question, tell me.

you must have no wipe top coat. you can get the effect as picture. but you can use all kinds of base color gel polish. you can get many colors

can you post a picture of it somehow ?? take a pic of it right after you buff the product on then take another pic after you've applied the top coat... I want to see what you're talking about
