This molcajete is absolutely beautiful and holds 4 cups! It is made from lava, which occasionally forms small bubbles or air pockets when it cools from a liquid to a solid state. So molcajetes sculpted from lava rock will naturally exhibit some of these natural imperfections. I am very happy with my wonderfully crafted molcajete!

This was purchased as a gift so has not been used. I did check it out & it is large, well made & very heavy! I'm sure they'll love it

I really love this Mexican mortar and pestle - a Molecajete. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality. I've used it to make many batches of salsa using fresh tomatoes, jalapenos, onions and garlic. It grinds the ingredients incredibly well. The flat base provides an unbeatable stability to the design and the actual lava rock used has tight-knit composition to the face of the stone. The pestle fits the hand perfectly and is incredibly well shaped. Excellent, excellent product.
