Set of two 10oz handmade whiskey glasses made in Waterford City Ireland. These tumblers measure 4" tall x 3" diameter with hand etched finish. Set comes in its own gift presentation box. All of the craftsmen at the Irish Handmade Glass company are second generation Waterford Crystal workers. They followed their fathers into the world famous glass company and learned their skills from the masters of glass blowing and cutting. When Waterford Crystal closed in 2009 they were determined that their ancient craft would survive. The four skilled craftsmen formed the Irish Handmade Glass company to use their unique talents to design and produce an innovative and exciting range of handmade glass products. The beautiful range of products produced show a skill and design that is not found anywhere else in the world. The blowing process employed by the Irish Handmade Glass craftsmen follows the same techniques created in the middle of the last century BC. It involves gathering a portion of molten glass on the end of a blowpipe and inflating it into a bubble. The glass blower can then quickly inflate the molten glass into a coherent blob and work it into the desired shape using a variety of traditional glass making tools. The glass is then slowly cooled over a period of a few hours to a few days depending on the size of the pieces. The final phase in the cutting process where the glass is pressed onto diamond wheels. Using a combination of wedge and olive cuts the craftsman adjust the pressure to achieve the various widths and depths required for by the design.
