Great Value Network Cable Repair Kit
I had several ethernet cables around my home that needed new connectors because the retaining clips had broken off, and after looking around, decided on this kit due to the value and high overall ratings. The intention was to stop throwing money away replacing cables, start fixing them instead, and to make some custom-length cables as well.I used the crimper, tester, and connectors over a dozen times now. All my connections work great. I'm very happy. And, the best part, I got this kit at an awesome price. My kit came with...1, A cable tester (MODEL WZ-468L in White).2. 100 Cat5 / Cat5e RJ45 Connectors Ready to Crimp (unknown model) - Yes, I counted them - they were all there.3. A crimping tool (MODEL HT-315 Yellow/Black Handle), which comes with a separate small stripper/cutter.4. A drawstring bag that is not big enough to fit everything, but I assume it was intended for the tester and a few connectors when on your way to the site.Everything came in a sturdy cardboard box, which I will use for safekeeping as this is not a tool I will use daily. But, when I need it, I have it!The star of the show is the crimper, which is heavy-duty steel and fits well in the hand. As for the price, I am very impressed. The tester also works well, and I like that the remote dongle slides off. This is important for testing cables that are already installed, so you don't have to pull them up from the baseboard, under furniture, in an attic, etc.My minor complaints... (none of which are deal-breakers)- The battery door on the tester was difficult to get open and needed a little nudge from a screwdriver. Also, the battery (not included) was a little difficult to situate to be able to get it to fit. Posts facing the side the wires came out worked the best. Maybe a sticker showing which way to face it would help?- It would be nice if the crimper had a lock to keep it closed.- A nice bonus would be if the cardboard box was instead plastic for storing when not in use, and included pinouts for standard patch and crossover cables, but this info can be easily found online. But, overall, it was a great deal, and I would recommend this kit to anyone.

Decent crimper. Not an every day tool.
This is a fairly nice consumer grade product for crimping Rj45. The meter is nice to verify things are wired correctly too.One thing I was not crazy about is once you have the wire case stripped and are putting the wires into the connector for crimping, this can be a bit of a challenge. It looks quite a bit easier in the video than when I attempted it. It works fine, but was a little more tedious than expected.I gave it four stars because it certainly does get the job done, however, I would not categorize it as the most sturdy product for day to day use. If you are on a budget and are not working with a ton of connectors this will fit the bill.It is really a value proposition. For someone like me attaching connectors once in a while, it is fine.

Works well
Works great, instructions were pretty clear. I did look up a YouTube video just to be sure I was doing it right though.

Exactly what I needed. Saved a service call from the cable company.
I haven't used the crimpers. I really only wanted the cable tester, but for the price vs other products why not get the crimper for later use too?I like so many have been working from home during COVID. My kids are also home from school. There were many times I would be seeing a patient over telemedicine and the browser would crash. I finally tracked that down to a bad stick of RAM. Replaced that and the browser crashes stopped, but my internet just wasn't fast enough to chart, have video conference, and have the kids doing all kinds of things. I upgraded, but was still only getting 100mbits at my wired desktop. After many calls to the cable company and a lot of trying this and trying that, I realized that my old Netgear router only had 100mbit ethernet ports on it. So I did my research and purchased a Ubiquiti gigabit router. See a separate review for that amazing piece of kit. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I would get gigabit speeds for a few minutes then it would drop back down to fast ethernet. The day this product came, I put batteries in it, tested a couple patch cables so I knew they were good, then tested the cable run from my office to the closet with all the networking equipment in it. Turns out I had wired the wall jack in the office quite wrong. Fixed that with a little Googling. Then tested again. #8 wire wasn't working. Went to the other end and fixed that. Then, #6 wire wasn't working. (Most likely from manipulating the jack to fix #8 wire.) Fixed that. And.... viola!! I now get full internet speed in my office. The kids are pretty much still limited to 100mbits as their devices are all wifi and the WAPs tap out at that speed I believe, but I have had no further slow downs while working. If you do your own network cabling, this is an inexpensive tool that does what it is supposed to, and will alleviate a lot of headaches and hair pulling. As I said, I haven't used the crimpers yet, but they have a good heft to them. They feel quality, which was surprising at the price point. I expect them to do their job just fine when the time comes.Best part, I didn't have to watch for the cable guy to come between noon and four, to interrupt my work and eventually tell me the problem was my poor wiring.

Good crimper and tester for use around the house
I make up cat 6 cables all the time at work but needed a cheap set for the house for running some Ethernet cables. I Love the pass through connectors that come with the set and find them to be the easiest connectors to verify before you crimp them. This set is well made for the price, and the tester does the basic test that you need to make sure you do not have any wires crossed. Just remember to put the boot on before you put the connector on. Also, I was able to fit the complete set into a Klein zip bag for storage.
