This is better quality than most or all others available on Amazon. Bamboo staves are strong and have a nice finish. The material on the fan covers both sides of the staves, is cloth, and banded at the top to prevent fraying. All of this indicates they were are striving for quality when these were made. Price is great too. I grabbed a couple more just in case they aren't available again later.

The fans are nice for decorative purposes, but not for use, especially for taichi, kung fu, etc. In those forms, you have to be able to open it easily with a flick of your wrist and it is supposed to make a nice sound. These are too tight to open easily, seem to have too many staves for that type of fan, and both of those reasons makes them not do the sound. If you want a decoration, they're fine. If you're getting them for martial arts or shows, go for a different fan.

This was extremely difficult to open. I almost broke it trying to open it. Doesn’t slide open and close easily so it is not a good fit for a rave/festival fan. It feels more of a heavy duty paper then the fabric it’s states it is.
