Great heart rate monitor at a great price!
I ordered this product a few weeks ago when I started a circuit training program. My trainer advised me to get one, and recommended the Polar brand. I have been very happy with this product! It does exactly what it should, is easily programmable, and is very comfortable. I forget I'm wearing the chest strap within a couple of minutes. I also bought some electrode gel to help the monitor get a better read, but I've actually only used the gel a couple of times...the monitor picks up very well without it. You can also use a little bit of water to help it get a reading. The watch and chest strap are comfortable adjustable, and clean easily. It's not the most feminine-looking accessory you can wear, but it's not too bulky, and I believe it does come in other colors. This monitor doesn't have as many "bells and whistles" as the more expensive monitors, but if you're looking for a basic heart rate monitor that will do the basics, this is a good one.

Easy to use.
This heart monitor is easy to set up and easy to use. It monitors your heart rate and will tell you the length of your workout, your average heart rate, and your highest heart rate. Sometimes you have to wet the electrodes on the chest band to get a signal--this is not a big deal to me. Many of the gym machines will pick up the monitor and show you heart rate which is cool. The only function I don't like is that it beeps to tell you that your heart rate is too high or too low. I do not know how to turn it off and it is embarrassing when I am at the gym but it is only for about 30 seconds. There are fancier models that let you download data into your computer but if you are looking for an easy to use heart rate monitor that is reliable, this may be the one.

some issues
This monitor does a good job of monitoring my heart rate which is why I bought it. The only issues I have are some features didn't work, such as the day of the week. Also you have to go on to the Polar web site to download the instruction booklet to be able to set the monitor up the first time. This created an unnecessary step for me, but I guess it makes it cheaper for Polar. So if Polar is more concerned with profit than pleasing their customers it works, but it irritated me. The one button is very easy to use to set up the monitor once you get the instructions.

This is not what I expected
If you're looking for just a heart rate monitor (it is waterproof and good for swimming) then this is for you. There aren't any bells and whistles at all. Straight forward, heart rate, time of exercise and that's it. The log only stores your last workouts data, you need to record it before you start another session.

Does What it Claims, but Doesn't Do What I Want
There are many different models of Polar heart rate monitors, and I wish I had read all the specs more carefully: This unit gives average heart rate for a single workout, but doesn't say HOW MUCH TIME was IN THE TARGET HEART RATE ZONE. Just total duration, high, low, and average. I guess the work-around is to start it up, then stop it and start a new session when I reach the target zone, then stop it during cool-down once my heart rate drops below the target zone. What can I say, this just seems stupid to me.

good basic heart monitor
This is a good monitor if you have no need for the fancy training models. Beginner or non-competitive runners should stick to basic types like this. The Polar monitors I have had like this are well-made and easy to use and this is no exception. I am coming off a long layoff and plan to use this to work back into shape without risking overtraining.

Polar FT2 Heart Rate Monitor watch
I have Atrial Fibrillation and this monitor helps monitor my heart rate during workouts. It is quite simple to operate and I have had no difficulty using it. I wish it had the ability to save multiple workout times but at this price I'm happy with it.An amazing thing is that everything is set and operated with just one button. So far it is working fine and I'm happy with it.

Excellent quality, simple operation, good value.
If you need a heart monitor that does just that -- monitors your heart -- this is a solid choice. I recommend it over the FT1 because that model is just too stripped down, even for me. This one offers enough features to be genuinely useful, yet it is reasonably priced and doesn't overwhelm the user with confusing options and controls.

Excellent
I wanted a watch that would accurately monitor my heart rate as I'ved reached that middle age when exercise is essential after years of inactivity. The watch does exactly what it says and the chest strap that monitors your heart rate works perfectly. The chest strap is made of a solid piece of rubber that sits on your chest and an elastic strap that connects to one side of the rubber piece then goes around your body to connect to the other side of the rubber piece. At first I thought this would be uncomfortable but you can adjust the size of the elastic strap to make it fit ok. The solid piece of rubber is quite soft and moulds to your body. It will work for both men and women. The watch itself has only one button to view different displays or change settings. It can sometimes be a little fiddly but it does work. You need to set time and date as well as age and exercise zone high and low heart rate. The watch will beep when you go out of this range which makes sure you exercise at a safe heart rate to either get fit, lose weight etc. The internet will give you lots of info on how to calculate this safe range based on your gender and age, or ask your Doctor. Very happy with purchase and would recommend for anyone.

Does the job well
I have owned the Polar heart rate monitor for a few months now, it works well and is easy to use.I bought mine so that I could keep an eye on my heart rate whilst cycling without going down the more expensive Garmin/ANT+ option. The heart rate detector band which sits around the chest is comfortable and easily adjusted, you soon forget its even on you.The functionality of the monitor is basic no doubt but it does the job well in a no frills way.If you want a monitor to just occasionally see how your heart is doing then this watch will do that perfectly. If you want the analytics to record your heartrate vs altitude etc then probably a Garmin would be the better option.

Very good - No complaints
Bought this just to use as a heart monitor to keep check of when I am in my fat burning one during exercise. It also keeps track of the time for your workout, If needed can also be used as a regular digital watch. There are extra settings where you can set heart rate limits but I have yet to use these. One thing that annoyed/confused me when I started out was that it seemed to change between displaying heart rate, time of workout and actual time. It was only after reading the instructions properly that I realised this was happening during push ups as when you bring the watch to the chest strap it changes feature. Which actually turns out to be a great feature.

Nice big numbers for slightly blind people!
I have used polar heart rate monitors before and always been pleased. The strap fits comfortably, I usually forget I am even wearing it. The readings are constantly accurate and never let you down/lose signal or contact. My main reason for choosing this particular polar heart rate monitor is that I am rather long sighted (+4.5 dioptre both eyes) and I wanted a watch with a big enough readout for me to see with out glasses or contacts. This completely fits the bill, and I am really pleased, no more squinting at tiny figures trying to make out what they're saying. The heart touch sensor, which enables you to switch between different modes (time of day, heart rate, workout time so far) is a surprising and unexpected bonus, and I find it really useful, especially on the bike to not have to fiddle around pressing buttons to switch between these modes.Of note there is no way to upload data from this product to your PC, I think it can be done with the purchase of a separate piece of kit to add on, but I haven't tried. You can however review your average and max heart rate for the session at the end of your workout.

good item
I am pleased with this purchase, despite some of the negative reviews on this site, I cannot fault it is easy to wear and use ,the pulse read feature matches the readout given on my exercise bikes pulse sensor display so it seems accurate, the function keys are a bit fiddly but once you have played about with it you can set your max pulse rate limit to alarm and do the same for your min rate, when I told my cardiac physio i was going to buy a monitor [ similar to the ones we used at the cardiac rehab class sessions ] she advised me not to get a cheap one but a top name like Polar.when I saw this on Amazon it ticked all the boxes viz functions price etc, my only concern is battery life and the fact to replace them they have to be sent back to the factory
