Cut garlic, onions, carrots, celery, mushrooms & cake without much effort
I currently have Miracle blades, and they aren't much of a miracle. So I decided to try a moderately priced chef knife, and this knife made the short list, and eventually the one to buy. It came in a box with no English directions on it, only German and some other language I'm not familiar with (see picture), but I am going to assume that the German directions say something to the effect of hand wash and dry, do not put in the dish washer. At least that is what I think it might say. After pulling it out of the box and removing the silicone tip protector, I hand washed the knife and dried it. It cut carrots, celery, and mushrooms as expected. I even went at some garlic and onions with it too, and I got nice, pristine, deliberate cuts. But the real test for this knife, and to show me how sharp it really is, is the ability to cut thru bread, or in my instance a cake, without smushing it. If the knife is truly sharp, you can cut, or rather slide the knife thru the pastry without it pushing on the pastry, and ruining the shape. This knife did as promised, it sliced thru my triple lemon pound cake with out smooshing the cake. Go on, see the picture. The knife was easy to clean and dry, and I saved the silicone tip protector and put it back on the tip of the knife to store it safely. I'm impressed with my buy.

LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!
The blade is nice and sharp, but the stainless steel had blemishes on it and I did not like the handle, as I felt it was too big. Sent it back. This is the one thing that I despise about shopping on Amazon, as even though this was a Prime item, it cost me $6.50 to send back a $15 knife.

Chops nice - Doesn't like the dishwasher.
Knife is sharp and slides through fruit beautifully. No complaints so far and have run it through the dishwasher. Will see how long it stays sharp.Update: after using it 2 dozen times (and in the dishwasher a few times) the knife started to show signs of water wear (rust like stains). I recommend HAND WASH ONLY as the description just say rinse with water...but what about when I cut raw meats? Changed my review from 5 star to 4 due to this.

Wonderful Knife
I am very impressed with this knife. I was hoping it would be nice but when i saw the cheap packing, I prepared myself for disappointment. After I took it out I saw it is a great knife! All one piece so I don't have to worry about bacteria getting between the handle and the knife. It feels balances and light when I chop and it is sharp. I did not realize it was a Santoku until I opened it. i was expecting a chef's knife but I wanted a Santoku so I am happy. Most people do not know the difference between the two so it will not be horrible if you wanted a chef's knife. Santoku knives are shorter, lighter, and thinner than chef’s knives. and they feel different. I use them both for different task. (I need slip for thing like celery slicing/dicing and non slip for things like carrots.)

Do not suggest
Looked sharp and good when arrived, but lost the sharpness within a week. Now I am sharpening every other day to make it work even for tomato!

Slices and dices easily
This nice arrived nicely and safely boxed. The knife is easy to hold and grip. It is very sharp and cuts through food easily. I hand wash my knives so do not know how this will work out in a dishwasher.Overall this is a nice knife for the price and does the job.

Not razor sharp
Decent knife. It didn't come razor sharp but my husband sharpened it with our rada sharpener and it does real well now. I am hoping it will hold its edge. I looks very nice and feels good while cutting.
