What is the gauge of his foil?

My Mitutoyo micrometer gives readings ranging from 1.25 to 1.40 mils thick in different places on a length of this foil. It feels like "normal" foil to me, but what the grocery store sells as normal foil feels fragile and superthin, so I guess my hand calibration is off. Maybe I got used to "black wrap" lighting control foil, which is more hefty and measures around 2.5 mils.

why is this not available in stores anymore?

Just a matter of shelf space. Still being made. Great stuff.
