Penn Plax PB1 7-Day acation Fish Feeder

These almost killed our betta. We have two bettas, used this product in one tank and the last feeder from another company in the other tank while on holidays for a week. The other company 's feeder worked perfectly, but this one didn't dissolve at all and our betta looked horrible when we returned. DO NOT BUY if you care about your betta!

I used one "fish" while we were gone 10 days. I have a male beta in a 2.5 gallon bowl with filtration system. After reading other reviews about the tab leaving a gloppy mess on the bottom, I decided to suspend the feeder tab by using a short piece of fishing line wrapped around the 'tail' and attached it to a small bobber (one of my beta's favorite toys to push around). It worked great, and I didn't come home to a dead fish, cloudy water or any of the other issues described by some reviewers.

We have three Betta Fish bowls in our family and were out of town for 5 days. Reading the reviews we decided to ‘hang’ this fish food in the bowls while we were gone vs. just letting it sit on the bottom of the bowl. We used a some left over fishing line wrapped around the tail end of the food then wrapped the other end of the line around a chop stick and then taped the chop stick to each side of the bowl so food was suspended about an inch deep. We were all SUPER happy that we came home to three betta fish that were alive but also clearly happy to see us! I also feel like hanging the food minimizes the ‘foggy’ build up as that didn’t seem to be any issue with any of our bowl water. I will definitely keep these on hand for future extended trips away from home.

Returned from our 3 week vacation to a starved, emaciated betta fish on death's door. (He was so weak he couldn't swim nor eat his normal food and died the following morning.) My parents put a new tablet in once per week when they stopped by the house each week. Photo shows a almost complete tablet (9 days in water) and a fuller tablet 2 days in tank.

I would buy this product again and again. We used to use a different brand of feeder and it would cloud up the tank as it dissolved so I decided to give pro balance a try after reading a few reviews. We were gone for a week and came back to live happy fish. Not only that but their water wasn't cloudy, there was just a small pile of "food" left where the feeder was laying. Definitely a great product to have.
