Bolight Digital Caliper 6" Stainless Steel

This is a nifty little pair of calipers on the cheap for at home usage. It's nowhere in the same league as even a budget Mitutoyo but for my use and price point, I can't complain. These have seen light usage over the past year and they've been accurate and reliable. Every so often, I'll verify them against a gauge block and they're always within 0.0005" of the size. Measurements are also displayed in either Metric or Imperial units, making them versatile for any measuring need.Having said all of that, these do feel considerably cheap and I would not designate them for any type of hard use or industrial application. These are for the at home tinkerer and not any sort of critical application. If I saw these in use at a vendor's facility, i'd have some serious reservations. The jaw steel feels pretty soft as well so I suspect they'll ding up very easily (compromising accuracy) and the plastic shroud on the readout feels considerably fragile so I doubt they'd survive even a light impact with the ground.

While it does measure close enough for what I need, it could use a little improvement. The thumb wheel just feels loose. Maybe there's an adjustment I can make, haven't checked yet. Also, i have to constantly zero it out. while it's closed it'll ready a negative number. However, it is a fairly useful tool as long as explicit accuracy isn't a huge necessity. I'm not unfamiliar with how these things work, I've worked with many jewelers and have measured many gem stones with a more expensive version of one of these and they've always been extremely solid with little to no off movement.

It functions well.-- It "zero's" well and holds it.-- When clean, there is no light visible between the jaws when held up to the light.-- Operation is smooth, not stagy or rough feeling.-- Repeatability and Reproducibility are better than expected at this price point.-- Cosmetically, they are acceptable with no discoloration, tooling marks, chips, dents or dings.If treated properly, these should give good performance for a long period of time. I would recommend this product.

Turns off by itself sometime. Switches between mm and inch sometime without me being involved.But works and measures constant numbers. No big complain so far for that price. OK overall.

I bought these. For my job and they work great. Heavier than i thought it would be but. I would buy again (if needed)

Updated review from 3 to 5. The micrometer itself seems fine. My problem is with the dead battery it came with. A battery is a 1/3 of the price of the device. Lame. Updated this review. I found a new battery in the packaging! Perfect, great job!

This is my first digital caliper. Didn't want to spend big bucks on a caliper for home guitar repairs, this caliper fit the bill. So far it seems very accurate. Holds zero calibration very well, no need to readjust after each measurement. Comes with a battery installed and an extra battery. Nice case, too. Recommend.

Worked for what I needed them for

Works well other than its keeps shutting off. It wasn't getting good connection. Put a piece of aluminum foil under the battery cover should work fine.

These calipers are ground correctly, and work correctly.Comes with 2 batteries. The installed one was dead, just change to the second supplied battery. Bargain price.

The calipers that I received looked good cosmetically but has a rough feel when sliding, it's not repeatable within 0.01, and does this thing where if you don't slide it slowly it loses position, and I really do mean slow. Most calipers turn on when you slide them and this one does that but is too sensitive. If you bump the table that they are sitting on they will turn on and kill the battery quickly. Not pleased with this purchase even for the money.

Item doesn't work properly. Will not shut down and flashes through numbers with lightening speed. Tried changing the battery and used compressed air as suggested in the instructions, to no avail. Still does not work properly. When I press the off button, sometimes it will turn off only to start back up within a minute or less on it's own. I don't know if it's just this particular one or if they are all like this.
