Nourishing and delicious recipes- making several on repeat, A+!
Great recipes that are easy to cook and taste delicious! My mom is going through chemo and has loved everything I’ve made her from this cookbook so far and several dishes are now regularly requested by the whole family, like the Thai coconut soup and the sweet potato soup. Easy and nourishing for her body as she heals and delicious to all of our taste buds! Highly recommend!!!

Actually HEALTH Based Current and Useful Information
I am so glad I discovered Rebecca Katz! This updated cookbook is the most reasonable "eating and cancer" book I've seen yet. It actually imparts knowledge about different food ingredients and why they are helpful and healthful. In comparison, I bought a cookbook from the American Cancer Society and was appalled to see the main protein sources were just tons of cheese or milk and the majority of recipes were very high in sugar (as much as 52g per serving!) While I understanding that some days of the treatment cycles will necessitate a focus on amount of calories over quality of calories, I think Katz's book provides great options for getting quality food calories in all situations. There are pages with table format references to recipes by side effect symptom (ie constipation, sore mouth etc.) AND general, related health considerations (such as inflammation and blood sugar regulation). The extensive information provided in addition to the recipes is well written, interesting, current and very useful! The photographs that accompany some dishes are beautiful and the layout is nice. Nutritional information is included with each recipes (I would have preferred a table format to paragraphs - 3rd edition please?!) and a great addition of storage method and storage time information is included as well. It's important to note that many recipes involve a lot of prep. Each recipe notes a prep and cook time but I found it takes much longer than what is listed (I may just be too slow?!) many are listed as 10 minute prep so if you're good in the kitchen this may not be an issue for you! Also, some ingredients you might not find on your grocer's shelf or hard to find if you have limited choices in food markets. I was able to find most everything by going to regular grocery stores and the local co-op market. Katz does provide a list of online resources and offers substitution ideas so most of the recipes are flexible. There are also informational pages describing the possibly less familiar items and why they are healthful.Since, as noted, many recipes involve quite a bit of prep time, being able to cook ahead and store properly allows the patient/care giver to cook when feeling up to it and then store so as to have healthy food available quickly when needed. This book is also a great resource for care givers or people wanting to bring a meal to a friend to provide a nourishing, tasty dish. I almost took off a star for the complexity of many of the meals but love it otherwise so much I stuck with 5 stars. You can also check out Katz's online videos to get to know her a little and watch her make some of the recipes. Definitely a sensible, information packed and well researched cookbook - definitely recommend!

Most Useful!!!!!
If you like your food to taste good , this cookbook is for you. It's recipes , also, help you fight cancer, she includes the science of how. The section on cancer-fighting ingredients is priceless- foods and spices. I learned which help with digestion and which are anti-inflammatory. Simply Organic spices are what most people buy who buy this book- great flavor-cannot go wrong. Also of great help is "Scared Rest" by Saundra Dalton-Smith, MD. Healing from cancer takes an incredible amount of rest. Two other helpful books are "Cancer My Homeopathic Method" and "A Homeopathic Approach to Cancer", both by A. U. Ramakrishnan.UpdateLook at Liver Rescue by Anthony William. 11,810 reviews answers to ridding your body of toxins. Many to rid your body as you heal from cancer. Many wishes for complete healing!

Great cookbook.
I like everything about it! Fresh, healthy, accessible foods that are simple to prepare. Most would be enjoyed by all but the pickiest of eaters. Great for supporting cancer patients & rest of family! Broth recipes that can be made ahead in bulk, then divided & frozen for easy & fast future meal prep by patient or caregivers. A section of soup recipes included that use the broths as an ingredient. Variety of offerings for easy make ahead foods for patients to have on-hand options, depending on appetite, symptoms & side effects. Indicates how long foods will keep in refrigerator & freezer. Offers advice for foods & recipes to help manage side effects, grouped by problems in a certain convenient section. High grade nutritional support especially suited to provide optimal vitamins & minerals from foods. Vitamin & mineral supplements are generally contra-indicated for cancer patients in treatment as they are believed to work against treatment & decrease effectiveness of both radiation & chemo treatment, as advised by our oncology & radiation providers. Uses lots of fresh herbs-great time to plant some in your garden. Organics preferred especially for the dirty dozen & grass fed & non-commercially processed meats are also suggested. Gave to a family member patient as gift. The whole family loves so much we got a copy for us. You can view some of the author’s older recipes on her blog to get a sense of her approach. Exceeds five stars for us. If you like fresh & healthy foods, you will surely enjoy this book (2nd edition).
