Best winemaking book I have purchased!
I have been buying up winemaking books this past few years as I purchased a small vineyard in 2010 and am now starting to make wine (or try to anyway).I bought many good books and read them cover to cover and learned much valuable info, but this book, man-o-man! From the minute I received it and opened the pages I was stunned as to how much better this book is to the library of other books I have. This book takes a topic and explains it to a degree no other book does. It gives reasons to the practices and why they are the way they are. It breaks down the wine making process into easy to understand yet very scientific ways to help you make good if not great wine. A sure sign it goes into depth, the amount written. This book is twice the size (page count) then any other I have.I sure wish I found this book a year ago!If you are starting out or have been making wine for years I am sure this book will help you.

amazing read
this was what i was looking for. This gives a lot of the "science" behind the wine making. I'm kinda disappointed it only covers grape wine but the information in here is extensive about all the different steps that overlap in all wine/mead making. This would be a great collection in any wine/mead makers collection.

Best single book about winemaking I've ever read
Hands down, this is the best single book I've ever read about winemaking. Written in plain English, with lots of charts, tables, and photographs to help you understand the process of making and properly filtering, bottling, and storing wine. The author is very approachable and has answered all the emails I have sent him about the topic. Daniel Pambianchi has a scientific background, so he can certainly provide the gritty chemistry details if you are so inclined. I have met him and attended his lectures at winemaking seminars... you simply must get this book and meet him if at all possible. You will not regret it.

Excellent book for the home wine maker
This is a great book. I use this book as a reference for all my wine making. I took Daniel's class and learned a tremendous amount. He goes into excellent detail in all the aspects of wine making. He was even kind enough to sign it for me. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Great Ref Book
Fantastic reference book with some in depth science. Good for the book shelf to ref, but I highly recommend "From Vines to Wines" as an all around fun to read intro into backyard wine making. But really, order both of them!

Excellent and in-depth highly recommended
The book is well written and contains numerous photos, illustrations, charts, tables and graphs. The author covers every conceivable aspect of winemaking in a clear and in-depth manor. Even though the target audience is the home winemaker, commercial applications are also covered and there are sections on how the pros do it. Every piece of equipment, technique, chemical, method and product used in wine making is covered. There is an excellent chapter on analyzing and adjusting the must. I've learned a lot and continue learning from this book. If you are at all interested in learning about winemaking then you will love this book.

Excellent Book
Would recommend this book to anyone wanting to make wine. Many in depth details about wine making. Talks about every aspect of making wine. This is my go-to book on the technical portion on making wine. I follow others on the actual process of making wine (From Vines To Wines) but often refer to this book for the explanation of each process. This book is in my top two wine making books.

Comprehensive wine making information.
To call this “comprehensive” is an understatement. I suppose if you are already an accomplished home winemaker, this would be an excellent reference book. For me, it was a stretch to get past the chemistry, that I did not even begin to understand, to the ways that grapes and other assorted fruits turned into wine. There was too much scientific gibberish, too many charts that made no sense, and too many recommendations of the necessary equipment needed to make a high-quality wine.It was just too much unnecessary advanced information for me. I sent it back after struggling to understand it.
