Easy to Read & a Definite for Acid Reflux or Gerd Sufferers
As an acid reflux sufferer, this book is quick easy to read with helpful information. The book begins with explaining acid reflux and gerd and the symptoms. It is not just an inconvenience but if left untreated can become more serious or a disease of cancer. I like how it has a section titled 10 simple steps to prevent acid reflux.Broken down into sections, this book is great as you can reference what you need. For example, describing the symptoms of acid reflux and gerd and tips to prevent these issues is detailed in the book. One chapter talks about your diet and simple tips to change your diet so you don't suffer.I am going to try smaller meals and a log of what triggers my symptoms. The chapter that has a 14 day plan with food choices is just what someone needs who has acid reflux or gerd.I love how this book breaks down food recipes into chapters for Breakfast, Main Dishes & Snacks. I can't wait to try the turkey burger and Frittata for my family and myself. The Sweet Potato Wedges and Banana Snacks look easy to make and tasty too.A definite recommend!!

Getting Help for Acid Reflux
Acid Reflux—heartburn—is so painful! Because of its location, sometimes I feel like I’m having a heart attack. Seems like I’m not alone. Heartburn, and the more serious condition, GERD, is a huge problem in our country. I am so grateful for this book, which simply describes the cause, physical symptoms, and cure, with diet, lifestyle changes, and/or medication. First, the cause. It’s all about acid rising up from the stomach into the esophagus when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens or can’t completely close, which creates a chemical burn in the upper abdomen and throat. This can lead to serious medical consequences. The problem is not only about eating acidic foods, but eating too much, too fast, along with stress, lack of sleep, medications, and more. There are great resources here including websites that list the ph value in foods and for an at-home test for GERD (ph strips). There are 10 simple steps to reduce the symptoms, a lot of which make sense once I knew the cause. For example, don’t go to bed full and limit liquids during meals. Quitting smoking is another. Saliva defends against stomach acid and smoking limits the production of saliva. But the cure is mostly about diet: less food and less trigger foods. There are some simple choices included that I have made once I knew about the trigger. For example, it is important to remove soda and sparkling water from our diets because the carbonation increases the size of the stomach two times. This can trigger acid to move upwards. About half the book includes recipes in every category. And, in the end, even if some of these steps are taken, one can successfully turn this condition around. That is hopeful! And why I am applying it starting now.

Very good read full of good information.
As anyone who has experienced the sudden heartburn after eating a meal can attest to, having these attacks can really ruin ones day. With the Prevent Acid Reflux book not only will you learn what acid reflux is, how it comes about and what you can do to avoid it in the future, this book gives you a 14 day meal planner to immediately reduce or stop altogether any future attacks. You may not need to follow this diet every month but how would you know when to start? This book gives you valuable insight into using PH strips, (available at any drugstore), to determine when you will need to begin the 14 day meal plan. In addition this book gives you some really helpful tips on how to reduce your risk of acid reflux. One tip I learned, chew cinnamon gum instead of mint gum after a meal. This is a great resource for those of us suffering from acid reflux. Use it in conjunction with advice from your doctor to feel better.

Not as polished as some Health & Fitness cookbooks, but still sound advice and worth a try!
If you suffer from acid reflux and are looking for changes you can make in your everyday life to alleviate the symptoms, “Prevent Acid Reflux” does a good job of not only providing suggestions, but helping you understand exactly what acid reflux is so you can make educated choices on your own.I only give the book three stars because it’s sprinkled with occasional structural and grammatical errors. It could’ve used another proofread, but fortunately, the errors aren’t numerous enough to be distracting or diminish the book’s case. It explains with enough authority that reflux is caused largely by overeating, and it prescribes a detailed action plan for moving to a more streamlined diet that’s rich in fresh produce and whole grains. It’s similar to the clean eating trend, but not as restrictive, so you don’t need to be intimidated if you’re considering this book. Any diet is, of course, going to be at least a little bit difficult, but with recipes like lobster rolls and banana-nut bread on the menu, I see no downside to giving it a shot.

This Books Rocks!
This book Rocks!I have suffered with acid reflux and various digestive problems for years. I have been on several medications that never seemed to quite work. My acid reflux symptoms stayed the same or even slightly worsened on the medications prescribed for me. My doctor always said that I needed to change my diet and lifestyle for any real progress to be made.I was always under the impression that I would need to go on a bland, no taste diet. All food would taste like cardboard. I definitely loved food with flavor. When I purchased this book, I assumed that it would chalked full of no flavor, bland recipes that I would hate. Well you know what they say about assuming something JThe recipes I tried were fantastic, easy to make and used easy to find ingredients. Recipe directions very clear and easy to follow. Believe me I am no chef!
