excellent quality, strong magnet
this is a very good and very well made magnetic adaptor. it functions slightly differently than the standard ringmagnet adapter. the free spinning magnetic collar will magnetically stick to the bit holding sleeve which is made of the same tool steel as most of the other parts of the bit holder. it leaves more of a 25mm bit exposed when retracted than the standard ringmagnet but i find that i usually have to actuate the collar forward manually on this one because it magnetizes to itself rather than automatically sliding forward to the fastener. this can be overcome by always holding it downward and letting gravity keep it in the forward position but not all projects allow for that, especially overhead work. i find that when i have to manually actuate the collar it is best done before attaching a fastener, otherwise because it is magnetically attached to the bit holder it can knock the fastener off as it breaks free and slides forward. This holder also doesn't lock the bit in the same way as the standard ringmagnet. it is a magnetic bit holder with a retaining ring to hold the bit rather than the true locking collar that the standard ringmagnet has. I find with things like wood framing, that this works very well for holding large fasteners and the magnet is very strong. also, a fastener is overdriven, the collar can slide back further than most magnetic collar designs which allows more of the bit to be exposed and access fasteners for removal without having to use a different bit or bit holder. I find that with the DeWalt and Makita design, it is quick and easy to remove the magnetic collar and access overdriven fasteners but their collars are just more flimsy. i really like this bit holder for certain situations but i find that i use my standard ring magnet more often. very good product. I hope this review is helpful.

Great build
So far it holds up very well. The magnet is just strong enough.

Works great but delicate.
Works greats but it seems to be pretty delicate. Any sort of wood application is totally in it's wheelhouse. It did only make it through seven 3 1/2inch self tappers through a 1/4" thick piece of angle iron before it sheared. So just keep it to light use and it'll probably be fine.

way over priced for what it does
I got sucked into a YouTube review and although i was skeptical that something this simple could be that much better i purchased it anyway. Learn by my mistake...its just an over price bit holder. Put a Snap On or Festool label on it and maybe I wont cry so bad, at least with them I know I'm getting screwed.

Good idea but falls short in execution
The concept behind this bit holder is that there two magnets - one in the bit holder itself and the outer part has a ring magnet at the end to help support and hold screws with larger heads, like a wafer or pan, as they are being driven. For that it, works pretty well but as it seems like with a lot of Wera products, falls short in the actual execution. At least the one I had, it seemed as if the bit holding part wasn't centered in outer ring and there was a fair amount of slop in the bit holder as well. More importantly, the magnetic ring has the magnet exposed and being relatively soft, the magnet gets chewed up over time. That doesn't effect the function at least in the short term but it will scratch the paint on a coated screw, like one you might use to hang a cabinet.Given it's price, it should work better than it does. I don't know if it's possible but a thin layer of steel over the outer ring magnet would solve a lot of the design flaws.
