Quality made
We had the salt grinder and liked it so much we had to seek out the pepper grinder to purchase. The grinder mechanism is very smooth to operate and (sounds silly but..) quiet!! Changing the size of the grind is easy and filling is straightforward. Materials are nice and clean easily. I used to have two sets of grinders but these are so easy to use I keep them by the stove for cooking and move them to the table after a quick wipe.

Recomeneded by Cook Illustrated
Cook Illustrated recommended this pepper grind and I rushed to buy it and as always they were right. It is easy to use and good qualify. And it has like 6 grind options.

Good quality for the price
I don't know what it is about grinders such as this but it's challenging in my experience to find a good quality device, at any cost. This is a good quality grinder, better than average construction however primarily plastic in nature. It has a nice span of grind settings and the appearance of quality.

Cole & Mason copper pepper and salt grinders
A very handsome grinder in copper that matches our countertops, we bought a pair for pepper, salt. Moderately priced, reasonably quick delivery. The only drawback is changing the volume/coarseness, it appears that you have to use a screw driver to loosen the mechanism to make a desired change to volume/coarseness.In addition, after using these grinders they are a little leaky, leaving behind a tiny deposit of pepper or salt where you place them.

Works great.
I threw out my old mill because it would not hold a fine grind setting. There was a thumb screw to set fine or coarse and it would not hold. The Cole and Mason grinder has a setting that tells you how fine or coarse and this setting does not vary when you use the mill. I like it!

Tell Carpel Tunnel to buzz off
No more aches, cuss words, long stints trying to grind out just the bare minimum to kind of flavor your steak!! I wish I had spent the money in this months ago!! The cheap ones don’t work. What used to take 5 minutes of frustration and tight forearms now is done in literally 5 seconds!!!Get it. You deserve it!!!

If the top won't turn, don't force it.
This is my second Cole Mason salt grinder. The first one lasted two years grinding Himalayan Pink Salt. Apparently the salt grains are quite hard and occasionally would jam up the grinding mechanism requiring quite bit of force to overcome the resistance to turn. Finally, one day it took so much force to turn the top, it lost its grip on the plastic piece inside the cap. Being curious, I took it apart to see what happened. The aluminum cap has detents that enter into pockets in the plastic piece. That's what stripped. So I bought a new grinder and switched to Morton Salt Mill Refill Sea Salt. Grinder and salt are happy now! I'm sticking to a five star rating for this grinder.

Best salt grinder yet
We have bought many salt grinders from this company - most of which no longer serve their purpose. This one is far superior to the others and we look forward to many years of using it.

Salt & Pepper Mills that actually work
This review is for both the Salt AND Pepper Mills from Cole and Mason. Finally Mills that work and keep on working. Reason: The grinders are made of stainless steel, and NOT plastic. There is also a great method of adjusting the grind. Both are a substantial size, easy to handle and have a look that flatters your countertop. I definitely recommend these two items

Dissapointing product for the price.
Pros: Looks good and has dial for grind sizes which is very nice.Cons: Biggest problem being how fast it grinds peppercorns and how many times you'll have to turn the shaker to get a decent amount of black pepper. For the money it's as fast as the shakers from dollar stores which is a shame. Forget about using it for preparing your meals. On your plate I guess it's fine if you don't mind turning it for a minute or two! Some pepper (or salt if you have the salt shaker) will always end up on your table after each use. A cap or cover covering the blades would have resolved this problem. An overlook which is unacceptable in this price range.

Good, but pricey for a mostly plastic import
The price is a bit high at $40 for a made in China salt grinder. They have "ENGLAND" stamped on the bottom, I think they are pushing the edge of the origin declaration laws here. It does say "Mill: Made in China" in hidden small print on the paper tag. It is mostly plastic with thin metal covers. The "imported quality" finish on the metal is a dead give away for me. The lettering and markings are just printed on which could be a problem down the road. It does work well right out of the box, but I am not convinced of its longevity.
