A genius product and unique gift
I purchased this about two months ago as a gift. If you're also considering this product as a gift, I'd highly recommend it.My package arrived very quickly, and was in an amazon box with styrofoam and air packs. It comes in a glass case, which was pretty thick and seems like it will last a while, although the top is made of thick plastic. The square case is about 3x wider than the actual Corkcicle. As is pictured, one of the sides of the case has a black background with white design writing on it. The other sides of the glass contain white printed instructions on how to store it and the product name. The only think I wasn't a fan of with the packaging was the thin plastic piece at the bottom of the case to steady the tip of the Corkcicle when being stored. As far as I can tell, you can't remove it (the part of the case that holds the top of the Corkcicle doesn't come off- you insert the Corkcicle through this hole to store). The thin plastic piece moves slightly and is raised in a circle around the tip of the Corkcicle. It just seems cheap compared to the rest of the packaging, but this is a minor issue and certainly doesn't affect the product. The only other problem I could see for anyone is how much room it takes up in the freezer (where you store it). This wasn't an issue for us, but just keep this in mind if you're limited with space. You'll require about 4 sq. inches for easy storage and removal. The person I gave it to just LOVED it- it was certainly a unique gift! Others were looking at it expressing their interest and asking where I got it from too. According to everyone that has tried it so far, it has aerated and chilled extremely well. She hasn't needed the wine chilled for more than an hour, but it was a nice consistent temperature, even after an hour, and the steel cap is secure and cleans very well. I highly recommend this purchase instead of a separate aerator and in place of an ice bucket! A genius product.Just remember to pour yourself a sample sip prior to inserting the Corkcicle!

Very Functional and Beautifully Packaged
I was very surprised when I opened the box to find the Corkcicle suspended in a beautiful thick glass container that was wrapped in protective Styrofoam packaging. I guess they *could* have gone one step further by putting the Styrofoam package inside yet another box so that it would be easier for gift wrapping (wrap over solid material like a box is easier than wrap directly over Styrofoam). However, I think they went above and beyond with the glass container, and I will take the Styrofoam off and wrapped the glass container if I give this as a gift. That said, I also tested the product itself. It chills down quite quickly in the freezer. It was only in the freezer for ~2 hours when I used it for the first time with a bottle of Chardonnay that was chilled to approximately 50 degrees. It did not cool it down further (which was GOOD, as you don't really want to over chill white wine), but it maintained the temperature for nearly an hour. After about an hour, the Corkcicle was clearly well above 50 degrees, but still nowhere near room temp (which was 70 degrees). I don't know how well this would work for a hot summer picnic, but I think it is a very and clean way to keep your white wine chilled down at the dinner table without having to deal with buckets of ice water and dripping bottles. I also LOVE the fact that you do not need to remove it to pour the wine, as you just flip the silver cap and pour the wine though the unit. Brilliant!

Fun gift
I have purchased 2 of these - one as a gift and one for myself. I use the one I bought myself and I like it, but it is not ground breaking. I like that it has an aerator and a chiller. The container it comes in is glass and heavy and looks cool - unless you are clumsy and knock it off the counter on the way to the birthday lunch where you are supposed to be gifting it and have to clean up all that cool glass and then just place the product in a gift bag.The chill factor lasts about an hour or so on reds and that is fine if I am sharing, not so much if I am drinking solo which is the often the case since we have young kids and don't entertain as much as we used to (but I drink wine a little more than I used to). If I am drinking by myself and don't finish the bottle, I either have to put it in the fridge (gasp) or swap out the corkcicle for the real cork so I can put the corkcicle back in the freezer for the next use. I realize that isn't the fault of the product, but it's just not mind blowingly life changing for my wine drinking. For entertaining, it is great and fun and makes me look much cooler than I am!I purchased the lesser model for myself and am not sure this one is worth the extra $10 unless you are gifting it and the stainless steel or presentation is important.

Spill the Wine!
I bought the original Corkcicle with a plastic body and black cap and loved it. So did everyone who saw it. That one seems to be gone. I thought this version -- which adds an aerator, filter and a non-detachable top -- would be worth the extra money. I didn't realize that it has a metal body (which i guess is OK) and comes in an elaborate and rather large case that you are supposed to store the Corkcicle when its in the freezer "to prevent frost from forming" on it. Sorry, but that thing takes up way too much room in the freezer and I'll never use it. But the worst part is that there is something dimensionally different from the original -- either it is a little bit longer overall or the diameter of the top is slightly smaller. Whatever the case, in certain bottles of wine (two of the four I've tried it in), the seal with the bottle is not tight enough and wine comes spilling from around the sides. NOT GOOD! I considered returning them (I bought two) but I decided to keep them and try to be careful with them -- although I shouldn't have to!
