Arrived in good condition.

I only needed about half the mount of media that this comes with. However, this was cheaper than buying the media in a box AND I got a nice media bag, too.

These may be too big for my 3 gallon tank, but they are as pictured.

As expected with any ceramic media, you just need to rinse all of the dust off of the rings before tossing them into your filter.

I can't really compare them to other biomedia in terms of surface area for the good bacteria and all that, but they seem to work fine and they come with a good-sized zippered media bag. The bag is kind of large for a small filter, so you may want to get some smaller bags to use them in, or just throw them into your filter, depending on your filter design.

I’ve had this in my 50g since July 2018 in a Penn Plax cascade canister filter and it works for the job! In a heavily planted tank with livebearers constantly poppin out babies (so I have to feed heavily with small sized food) it keeps water params below 10ppm at weekly water changes. (and I even skipped a week and still was >10ppm!!!)

The package came in with quite a bit of ceramic dust. You will need to soak and rinse them many times until the water is clear. I think 3 to 4 days at a minimum. Still it will be a little cloudy when you introduce them to the filtration cycle. But no worries, the water should be back to normal after couple of hours.

The bag is quite sturdy, and love the zipper. One or two ceramic rings cracked but that's just because of shipping, all the others are perfect.
