I have a lot of chronic issues surrounding pain, fatigue, and inflammation. (Ehlers-Danlos, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Arthritis). I was skeptical of this but willing to try this instead of another medication change. The first 3-4 mins myself (and my family/friends who tried it) end up rapidly breathing, stiffening up, and feeling like this is a bad idea, lol. I won’t lie; the first few mins (less than 5) hurt pretty bad. I have to be listening to something or watching something to keep my mind off of the discomfort and work on relaxing INTO the spikes. Then suddenly the pain stops, it gets much more comfortable, and I’ve fallen asleep while on it! (So has my family who’ve tried it). It really works on those “trigger spots”. Right now I can do 20-25 mins on it, and then I take a warm shower and go to bed. I am sleeping through the night or only waking up once now (instead of waking up 5+ times due to pain). I’m getting less muscle cramps in my neck and back since I started using it. I won’t lie- the beginning hurts and getting OFF the spikes hurts after you’ve been on it for awhile. But the consistent results I’m getting is worth it. Came in a nice draw-string bag with a carrying strap. Also came with a very nice, heavy-duty hot/cold pack. I also want to clarify that I bought this myself with my own money; I was not given this or reimbursed in any way. I was not asked to make a review, but I wanted to because I have been genuinely satisfied with my purchase. I hope this helps someone out there who may be on the fence of purchasing.

This is the only acupressure mat I have tried. It seems helpful for my shoulders & neck. The instruction booklet is very helpful.

I believe this was a good purchase.. I finally got to where i can use it bare skin( I am sensitive and i had to work myself up to it) It felt really good, i almost fell asleep.. I recommend using it on the bed as opposed to the floor. The 4 stars is because of the pillow.. I found i couldnt use it as it didnt hit the right spots on my neck and base of my skull, the foam is kind of firm. To remedy that I pulled the foam out and cut a slight indent with a knife to lay my neck in.. It worked perfectly... I wanted to post a fair warning with the handling of the mat.. THE SPIKES ARE VERY SHARP, I cut my fingers as i accidently slid them across the mat. When lying on and coming off the mat, you must do it methodically or you can cut yourself.. Its an awesome Mat and a great idea for pain relief.. Highly recommend.. Although I would like to suggest the slight modification that i did to the pillow to the manufacturers, I feel the pillow would be more useful and more comfortable..

I ordered this product more out of curiosity than anything else. I am 68 years old and have minor age-related back, shoulder and neck issues. I do yoga several times a week and wondered if this would help. I waited several weeks before submitting a review.The product is well made and works well. Since I have shoulder and neck issues I like that it came with a neck pillow so that I can work on that area.It takes a little getting used to at first, but I do like using it. I try to use it for 20 minutes once a day, often as the cool down after my yoga. I find it works best with direct skin contact. At first it is uncomfortable but it does not take long to adjust to it. I ask my Amazon dot to play relaxing spa music and to set a timer for 20 minutes. I find it to be relaxing.I am still not sure it it helps or not. I am sleeping longer at night without waking up which may be due to feeling better from use of the mat. I recently bought a contoured pillow to help with my neck so I am not sure where the credit is due. Perhaps a combination of both.If you are at all interested in trying this type of mat, this is a good product. The price is good and it is well made.

Compared to my Bed of Nails which I have literally worn out, I do like this mat. Here are the key differences:- Firmer inside than Bed of Nails (BON) which is a soft foam - I prefer softer, but this is fine- Smaller acupressure buttons than BON - does not seem to make a difference- Sharper, more pointy, acupressure buttons than BON - good for getting the "tingly" benefit in less time, but not as good as BON if you want to lay on it for long periods like falling asleep- Material feels a little rough, but has an "earthy" vibe so I really like this. BON has softer "sheet" feel. - Both are good to me and this material will likely soften over time.- Less money! - Always good.- GREAT for gifting - the bag and pillow this comes with is adorable and would make a really cool gift.Overall, this has excellent value and while I intended to REPLACE my BON with this, I decided to keep them both because to me the BON is better for long term acupressure and this one is better for a shorter meditation because the needles on this are really sharp. It's a fine balance with these, you want them sharp, but not so much that you need too many layers to negate the benefits.I give it 5 stars as the people who designed this put a TON of thought into it and really made it a good price and value. (BONs pricing has gone up quite a bit and their product is exactly the same as it was years ago.)

Does work and feels good

I am a massage therapist in Mar Vista, Calif and my neck has been so locked up. My client told me about this product and highly recommend. My neck is so open now the discomfort is gone. 20 minutes of the pillow wow! The mat relaxes you and helps u sleep better.

If you are skeptical about this product being effective, you are right. It provided me with zero relief. It also started tearing at the seams after only a few uses of laying on it.
