Works perfectly every single time
There’s no trick, just boil a few inches of water in a saucepot, turn down to a bare simmer, add a bit of butter to the pod before you crack an egg into it, add the egg, close the lid, and go pour yourself a cup of coffee. In a couple of minutes, you’ll have a perfectly cooked egg that isn’t waterlogged and that slides out easily. The cool finger grips really do work, the pods don’t tip over (as long as your stove is flat, I suppose), and water doesn’t collect on top. These really do work work. Always. I haven’t made a bad egg with them, and they clean easily. I just think they are too expensive, but I’d buy them again in a second. They really are incredibly useful.

Perfect poached eggs!
This egg poacher set is excellent. I lightly coat them with butter or a bit of bacon grease, add a large egg to each, and then put them in a large saucepan with about an inch or so of boiling water, cover with a lid initially and then when they are nearing done I slant the lid to allow a bit of steam to escape, and just keep a watch on them to test for final doneness. I have used this about half a dozen times now and the eggs were perfect each time, slipped right out with ease, and are quite tasty. I had always used the standard egg poacher pans with the Teflon compartments and the eggs would get tough around the edges and also stick, so I figured there just wasn't a good way to get nicely poached eggs, but this set work great and I highly recommend this product.

Intense smell of Febreze, wouldn't use
I was looking forward to trying these egg poaching cups, as I have been looking for a healthy cooking alternative to my very old aluminum poacher. They were delivered in an Amazon padded envelope which released a strong smell of Febreze as soon as I opened it. As Febreze can trigger my asthma, I quickly disposed of the envelope and the unsealed plastic bag containing the cups. I washed the cups, believing that since they are made of metal with a ceramic coating they would not have absorbed the smell. Unfortunately, I was wrong. After thoroughly washing them, the smell was still there, probably imbedded in the silicone edges. I am returning them. What a shame! Why would anyone expose a cooking utensil to a toxic air freshener?

Great so far
I did order from the Amazon Warehouse and there were some scratches on the inside. Another reviewer mentioned that the coating is thin and that reviewer is correct, that is why 4 stars instead of 5. I am using them anyway and they work great so far. I don't even need to spray or coat with oil. I have been using them in my counter-top steamer and that is the easiest way for me so far, much easier than removing from a large pot. The eggs come out steamed anyway, not truly poached unless cooked directly in water. This is great for me because I like steamed eggs just as much as poached. I can't comment on durability yet because I have only used them 5 or 6 times so far.

Clumsy and innefective devices
I was hopeful when I received these well-made, attractive PoachPods. But I found them clumsy to use and ineffective. It took twice as long to cook poached eggs as my usual method.. Using the recommended method of cooking, the eggs had a watery topping after 5 minutes of cooking from steam condensation. Contrary to the description, the pods were too hot to remove with my fingers and awkward to remove from the hot pot with tongs. After two tries, I returned the PoachPods for a refund, which I was promptly granted by Amazon.

Not bad.
These are good but the eggs still tend to stick to them slightly. we have a ceramic frying pan and its literally non-stick.. these are not as great. but still ceramic so no toxic stuff boiling into your food so thats good :)

Poached Egg Lovers Dream!
If you like poached eggs...This is the product for you! Don't waist your money on buying a special pan. These little guys do the trick perfectly. Cannot say enough. Unlike some of others, the ceramic cups are well-made and sturdy. The little handles are almost the best part of the design b/c you won't burn yourself pulling out the cups from the pan of your choice. Take them on vacation! The eggs poach perfectly, although be careful not to add too much water to the pan and be sure to spray them with olive oil before use. I usually boil water in my favorite pan first, add oiled cups to the boiling water, then add eggs, covered and boil for just a few minutes, then remove from the water and gently tip the cup over on the plate. I don't really need a paper towl to soak-up the excess water but you can try it both ways.

What a great invention!
$20 for both cups is too much but it's such a great product! Eggs slide right out, poached eggs are perfect every single time. Clean up is easy. Just use one tiny shot of cooking spray and voila, they slide right out. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT.
