What UK size range of boots does if work with?

It works on UK 5-10 so I think it'll work for all sizes within a reasonably normal range. Action Man shoes would be too small, clown shoes probably too big.

What is the width of the gap between the jaws?

The widest gap at the top is about 10cm I have a pair of size 9 muck boots and they take them off no bother - my boots have a wee catch at the bottom which hooks underneath helping pull them off
