Decent product, some hangups...
For the price, you really can't go wrong at least giving it a try. I needed something to spritz neem oil on me and my kids to repel insects, so that I wasn't wasting the oil by trying to apply it by hand. And for that, it does its job. I'm not going to say it does a fantastic job, but it accomplishes what I wanted: to distribute the oil economically across a surface so I can finish rubbing it in and spreading it around evenly the rest of the way. But let's talk about specifics:First of all, I'm not overly impressed with the construction of this thing. The base is aluminum (better than plastic, right?), but the lid is just plastic, painted to look like metal. Right out of the box, I noticed that the paint job on the lid was not so great, and was already chipped around the bottom of the rim. Not like it had been used or anything, just like the plastic and the paint job were low quality to begin with. Now, to be fair, that part of the lid doesn't actually come into contact with the oil at all, so it's not a huge issue. And honestly, I'm not expecting this thing to be totally awesome and heavy-duty. You won't get that for this price. That said, the inside lid (with the actual spritzer on it) is perfectly good quality, and I have no complaints about the construction of the rest of it.It did have a distinct smell upon taking it out of the box, like a combination of chemicals used in manufacturing. Not particularly enticing, but I imagine with a good washing the smell would fade, if not go away completely. I didn't bother because I wasn't using it for edible oil in the first place, so I can't say for certain. Now, for how it works. First, the instructions are extremely simple, pretty much just "put oil in, screw the lid on, pump 10 or more times and go." Yep, the instructions really are that general. I didn't learn anything reading them that I didn't already know just reading various reviews on here. But I suppose there's good reason for them not getting too specific. You really do have to figure out the right number of times to pump every time you use it. The pressure is affected by how much oil there is in the container, whether you started out with it partially pumped in the first place, and how fine a stream you want. I say stream because in the time I've been using it (which, granted, hasn't been very long) the oil sort of sputters out in a stream, rather than an even spray or mist. I haven't been able to master the right number of pumps yet, but I'm working on it. Even at 15 pumps though, with the container half full, it's still pretty much a sputtery stream. It also doesn't spray for as long as they claim before losing pressure. And yes, I'm not an idiot, the lid was screwed on right. That didn't stop oil from catching on the lid as it sprayed out, making it all greasy after a minute and getting all over my hands. Honestly, I probably would give it three stars for using in the kitchen. I guess the only reason I'm giving it four here is because I'm rubbing the oil in with my hands anyway, so it's not a huge deal. And it's not like so much oil gets caught on the lid that it's dripping and just wasting oil all over the place either. In actual practice, I'm not as miserable using this thing as it sounds like I am. I'm just being very critical and making sure all pertinent points are covered. I absolutely think using this product is a step up from having to pour oil out of a bottle and spread it around with a hand or a brush or a paper towel. It is much more economical as far as oil usage goes. If I knew then what I know now, I would still have made this purchase for the neem oil, but I would rather buy a different sprayer for cooking oil. Since I already bought a two-pack though (one for neem oil, one for olive oil), I'm satisfied enough with their performance to keep them and use them. Bottom line, it's a decent product and worth the price, especially if you don't have the money to waste experimenting with different sprayers before you find the one you love. And if you do have that kind of money, you can probably afford to buy one of the ones that's twice or three times as expensive as this one and avoid that hassle altogether.

High maintenance, somewhat awkward.
I loved the idea of these at first, but the maintenance was a pain. It's a ______ to clean, and the depressurizing after every use (you have to twist the cap and release the air) always made a mess. I just use drizzle bottles now, which are way easier. These bottles are now in the trash. Great idea, sub-par design. A more simple hair-spray type design needing multiple sprays would likely be easier.

Nice and sturdy.
The two pack was only slightly more expensive than a single so I gave one to my mother in law. It's still sitting, unused on her kitchen counter over a month after I gave it to her. On the other hand, I love mine. It is brushed aluminum, very attractive, and very sturdy. Twenty pumps and I can spray to my hearts content. I use this for oiling pans prior to cooking, which results in significantly less oil usage. i also use this for spraying veggies as I saute them, and for spraying my grill to keep the food from sticking. I had a pampered chef mister and it just didn't work well. This is significantly better, at half the price.

Requires semi-regular cleaning for best performance
When working as intended this product is a really smart kitchen gadget. It's nice to be able to use any oil or liquid fat as a spray, and one without butane or other harmful propellants. That said, the method of pumping this up to pressure is a bit tedious, and over time becomes more difficult as the mechanism gunks-up with dried sticky oil. The spray cap also becomes affected by the drying oil. However, this is all easily solved by soaking/washing in hot soapy water once a year.

I like it.
I like it. It's very good for the reason I bought it in the first place but you or I have to pump it every time I use it. I guess I've been spoiled by the food sprays. I've thought of another reason for buying though and that it to put water in it to control flareups. That's about it I guess.

My second one in 5 years.
These are GREAT! I save a lot because it sprays a fine mist using less oil. I only use extra virgin olive oil in mine and I use it to spray my skillets/frying pans, coat my baked potatoes in place of butter (my adult son can't even tell that I have used olive oil on his potatoes!) Great for spraying on stir fry items and salads too!*TIP: Do not over pump these or you will just get a stream of oil verses a nice thin mist. Also... do not fill more than half way full. If you have a problem with the long frosted tube in the lid section coming off while you are pumping it back up, hit the tip lightly with a glue gun and you're good to go. My first Misto Sprayer was bought at a closeout sale more than 5 years ago. It still works fine... just a little dented from dropping and being banged around. I just bought a new one to look nice sitting next to the stove. But the old one is still working and has more than paid for itself.

Good purchase
If you buy bottles of oil why then buy spray stuff when you can just fill these for pennies and with your favorite oil. Only spray stuff I buy now is with the flour for baking. These have their problems if you over fill or don't pump up enough and always let the pressure out after use. If you treat it right should be fine.

Too early to tell
I've only used the sprayer a few times for putting a butter topping oil on popcorn. It worked, however the spray is very fine and tends to go all over. I have read of some users having issues with the mechanism either breaking or ceasing to work after a short time. I have not had the sprayer long enough to determine if this is going to be a problem. So far, though, it has worked.
