Great item for a great price!
Damned fine bag. Mine was used and I expected as such. My Dad had an army one from the 60's when he served and I've always wanted one. Since I'm a cake eater, I didn't get a chance to earn mine. I bought this one and I'm happy. It's in great shape, needed a little trimming on the worn nylon on the inside, typical stringing you see on surplus gear. The best feature to my twisted amusement was the faint puke smell. Some poor kid probably yakked all over this thing. Nothing a washing couldn't handle. LOLBag came in great shape, all straps and handles working as they should. This is now my heavy load carrying bag for camping. Can fit a folded tent, mosquito netting, tarps and every other darned thing in it.

A bit funny
This was shipped to me with just 6 or 7 days I'm not completely sure but super fast! The seller I chose guaranteed me no rips or holes and this bag is flawless. They say that because it's surplus it will more than likely have writing on it which didn't bother me but when I received it I had to laugh because the writing was my last name Smith and my first initial C. I don't know if they wrote this on when seeing my name on who to address this to or if it was just an interesting chance but it just made my personal buying experience that much better. As for the bag itself, zero rips, tears or holes, everything is there, doesn't smell at all and only had my personal name on it. Very happy with my purchase and would be more than willing to do business with them again.

High quality at a very reasonable price.
I was in the United States Navy and was issued a duffle that looks just like this one. The only difference is that my Navy duffle had a water resistant coating on the inside. Not a problem. Use plastic bags or spray on water repellent if need be. I kind of like the bag breathing a little better and it’s easy to wash and dry. Seems to be made exactly to military specifications with good quality. Very tough. Adjustable shoulder straps and fastener at the open end. It’s amazing how much of anything you can fit into one of these. Great bugout bag. Just toss stuff in and go.

You get what you pay for
OK now that I have had a chance to clean the bags (large wash tub, hot water, soap and stiff bristle brush) I am changing my rating from 2 to 3. These are acceptable - merely so. Once washed and hung on a line outside for a day, the smell of mildew is gone. The grimey surface is now clean to the touch. I would have been tempted to rate them a 4 except that one of the four bags I got was badly torn and is not usable. These bags have been USED - heavily - by the soldiers that previously owned them. All of the bags contain black marker writing (with the soldiers names) on them - this is not necessarily a bad thing, but something you should be aware of. Nov 19, 2011 - Bamcat.---------------------------Comment on Nov 13, 2011: Based on some of the other reviews, I was expecting duffles that were a little bit better than what I got. One of the four duffles that I ordered has 3-4 inch tear in the bottom (not worth the cost of returning). All of them sink of mildew. All of then are dirty and grimey to the touch. I may try to wash them. OK for carrying old tools or buring a dead dog in - but not for holding clothes (unless your homeless, I guess...now that I think of it, I may just donate these to some homeless dude...).They are cheap - and there is a reason for this. Don't do what I did. Buy just one, check it out first before you buy more.

Graduate School
The Official US Military Army Navy Surplus Duffle Bag is a great addition to my luggage collection. I own a few expedition and technical climbing packs and I must say that I'm very pleased to have purchased this bag. I was very impressed with the amount of clothing I was able to pack; going off to graduate school, and the durability that the bag possesses. Also, Heartland Values Outdoors is a wonderful company and very expedient when shipping. Thanks for the amazing product.

NOT a heavy duty cordura
I got it from Allegheny Surplus due to their excellent feedback and detailed description, however the material quality turned out to be so low. It's thin and doesn't seems to be durable. Though i paid the most price for the "like new" one. It was like new, but quality was not as described!

Wrong to buy
I bought a bag looks like a "new", found after receiving coating is off, there is still a strange smell after cleaning, take 34 $to buy a bag, really not as good as to buy a new bag, the same style of lapse in judgment.!

A nice bag if you need to move personal things in one place
The bag was bought especially to be an addition to our traveling luggage: when you you are on some trips every time at their end you need some bag to put inside additional clothes acquired or placing your own things instead of the souvenirs that to be saved under tough-construction suit-cases and particularly this bag is too adequate for this purpose: its own weight is no more than 1 kg, it's of robust and solid tissue, its volume could permit you to package even a little elephant :). Besides, it's very suitable for your hunting or simply forest voyages when a lot of things and objects are to be placed in one only bag. The condition of both bags bought was really very good - we just washed them for hygiene purposes, no replacements or reparations were needed.
