This product is AMAZING if you need to test for pH such as in making hot process (crock pot or stove top for instance) soap! This is a soap makers DREAM. I’ve used my tongue as well as buying an expensive digital pH reader. Let me say the tongue method works better than the digital reader which gums up and is difficult to use and clean quickly but this product takes the inherent danger out of the tongue method. I will recommend this product to ALL I talk with and am in contact with about soaping !!!!! Thank you!!!

I decided to buy this to test my hot process soap to make sure it was safe to use. As a test, when I added the sodium hydroxide to the oils, I put a bit of the mixture on a paper towel and put a drop of the clear colored Phenolphthalein on it. Well the Phenolphthalein immediately turned bright fuchsia pink - exactly what it was suppose to do. After cooking the mixture for about 60 minutes, I tested it again, and the Phenolphthalein stayed clear. Safe soap! The product came well packaged, and this company followed up to make sure I was satisfied.

I have never used this product before so I didn't know what to expect. Both bottles had crystalized type residue in them but as far as I can tell didn't affect the product.

I've never worked with Phenolphthalein before, but I needed some to test some liquid soap I was making. These were shipped beautifully, wrapped in bubble wrap in a perfect fitting box with instructions. I ran some experiments testing with these and ph strips and was very pleased with the results.

Easy to use for testing presence of lye in homemade soap. I make hot and cold process soap and want to make sure the lye is not present after soap cure and at end of cook. Just a drop on a small piece of soap does it. Don't forget this is poisonous so throw that soap and anything the solution touches away!

I've heard getting the crystals is far cheaper over the long haul--but I don't need enough phenolphtalein to last 20 years. These two bottles are already mixed and ready to use. That's convenient, and at the price, the exchange in time versus money is worth it for me.

Bought this to test my Ph levels in my homemade saps. Don't use tap water when testing. Use distilled or denatured alcohol because tap water has chlorine and other treatments. Tested against strips and came out accurately. Look for pink is as easy as it gets.
