Fun
Magnet is a good quality item but the rope that came with it was not. The rope already broke after several uses. I was able to find the magnet but the rope has been replaced with a better quality one. So overall, I would purchase again but would also purchase better quality rope to use.

Very Strong Magnet
I thought I'd try on my fridge, it was hard to get off. Brute Magnets is a Small Business offering quality products. I only got this magnet because afraid wouldn't be able to get a stronger magnet off things.Happy about the quality!

Heavy duty
This guy weighs a fair amount, and is intended to be dropped down as opposed to thrown. If thrown it digs itself down in the mud making retrieval difficult.

Strong magnet
I am trying out this magnet to go fishing with. The magnet out of the box is strong, not sure its 1000lbs strong. I have had several occasions to struggle pulling things off the magnet. I am sure the design along with the large countersunk hole is going to work out just fine. Here are some of the short comings of the magnet.1. The red thread locker contained blue medium strength thread locker. Once assembled I never want it coming apart again.2. The provided machine screw provided very little contact surface and left a large cavity for debris to get in. A trip to Ace found a better bolt (more below.3. The provided machine screw provided no thread protrusion. It would not provide adequate ability to retain the rope eyelet.4. The outer steel shell for the magnet provides ample area for better securing options. For example the machine screw hole could have been threaded and the rope eyelet could have been used as a secondary locking mechanism. Better yet it could have allowed for a cotter pin or safety wire to ensure it wouldn't twist off. Poor design5. My fix to this was to obtain an M10-1.5x40 machine screw, stainless steel and install it using the supplied thread locker. I will also apply silicone or other protective items to ensure it doesn't back off or damage the rope.It sounds like I am beating up Brute. I am stating technical shortcomings that all should be aware of and possible work arounds. If this proves to be insufficient I will update this review with any additional steps taken. Now its time to take it out for a test.

*update* Not sure what the problem is, but I wanted to like it
I'm not sure if its a manufacture error. I even looked to make sure I didn't get sent a smaller magnet by accident. But the diameter is correct. I was really excited about the magnet, especially with 1 day shipping and all the great reviews. However, I bought 2 magnets 1 harbour frieght and this magnet. It doesnt feel much stronger than my 21 dollar 250 lb magnet I bought from harbour frieght. I am mainly using it as a lighter one to find an object in the water and then I use my harbour freight magnet to retrieve the item after it falls off this one. I saw all the photos of big hauls but I am able to remove the magnet from items with ease. I will be contacting the seller soon in hopes that it is simply defective.Other than the force, the magnet looks well made, the packaging was nice and it was delivered on time. No issues with the thread, I put thred lock on it. Multiple casts with no issues. Will update post seller contact.*Update*So I will start of by saying the brute force team was quick to respond, and very understanding. They replied the same day usually within the hour. Excellent customer service. I explained my concerns regarding the magnet and they suggested testing it out on "ideal conditions" clean, unpainted, flushed contact. Well I brought it to work and told the fellas about it. Intruiged I knew they would do what they always do and just push limits. So we picked up a 50 lbs dumbell with it. No one was unable to remove it with out sliding it off. We attached it to the top rail of the squat rack and took turns hanging off of it. This is where the "ideal conditions" come into play. It successfully held up the weight of grown men. But it was not all the way flushed. So when the weight shifted to the side that was not completely attached it released and fell. Luckily we were only 2 feet up.So what I am assuming the issue is that this magnet while being stronger is also lighter than the harbour frieght one. So in water current it isnt afforded the opportunity to attach properly before the water sweeps it away. I will either find a way to add weight or simply buy the bigger one. I will also suggest anyone magnet fishing from a bank or planning on casting out instead of hovering directly above it, should look at the magnets with the side eye bolt instead of the top. I think it will work better than dragging a magnet from the topThanks again brute force the magnet is great.

Okay for the money
The price dropped since I bought it and I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it even lower. The pull lbs are good but not the 1200lbs advertised. Rope and gloves are good quality.
