Very good to have especially for bug control. Or for making soap.
Making soap or foot powder or just getting rid of bugs this is a very important thing to be able to buy. Also note that boron is a necessary nutrient for your plants and it will not harm you or your pets... at least not nearly as much as table salt does. One way to use it to eliminate roaches is to use it in your mop water. Mixing it with water is better than using the fluffy powder you can get at the 99 cent store.

VERY EFFECTIVE!
I've been using this around the perimeter of my garage for a few years. One bag lasted me about 3 years. I sprinkle it along my garage door, entry door, window sills, and any other place that has an opening to the outside and there are NO BUGS of any type in my garage. Nothing can crawl through boric acid and survive for very long. Usually the bugs are dead within a minute. I didn't weigh this package but it didn't seem like 5 lbs to me at all. It wasn't as large as the first bag I ordered and it was shipped in a plastic wrapper. If in doubt, weight the package.

THIS STUFF ROCKS!!!! A MUST BUY!
Oh my God! This stuff is AMAZING! I never review products. By the time I get it, i usually forget to post one. But this is a well deserved exception. Also, I wanted to wait to review because I wanted to see the results of the product before reviewing.I had a massive roach infestation. When I say massive, I really mean massive. A neighbor downstairs moved in, and had brought bugs in with them. Ewww! The roaches eventually made their way to my apartment. I couldn't even leave food on my counter for more than 30 seconds without risk of them getting to it. I couldn't even have company over out of embarrassment. If I turned on my bathroom or kitchen light at night, at least 15-20 would go scattering. So I imagine I had hundreds in the nest that i couldn't see.Bug spray like Raid from Home Depot didn't work. Regular, monthly visits by pest control didn't work. So I had nothing to loose by trying boric acid. I read the reviews, and settled on this brand. It was a bit clumpy. But a fine mesh sieve took care of that. After googling the best method of application. I decided to apply a very thin layer everywhere. Just carpet bombed everywhere. Yes, it tracked powder in some rooms. But the amazing ends justified the extreme means and methods used. After a week, they started piling up and I was sweeping them up by the dustpan full. Where I'd see dozens in a single sighting, now I might see one a week.Helpful hints. Use a mesh sieve for get rid of lumps. If you don't have one, using your hands, while not as effective, is ok too. Do not apply in thick visible lines. The roach or ant will see it, and simply walk around. In my case, they were forced to walk over the layer to get to food sources like the garbage can, and when they clean themselves by licking their legs, they ingest it. And when they die, other roaches will eat them, ingesting the poison that way also. Creating a somewhat perpetual cycle of poisoning. Apply a thin layer on the floor around the garbage can, because that's likely a major food source. After a couple of weeks you might think they're all gone. DO NOT BE FOOLED!!! Still keep a look out for more down the road. Because the adult roaches that are now dead, have left behind eggs, which will eventually hatch. The hatching will now be time for round #2. Just keep up with treatments, and they will die off as well. Population eventually whittling down to nothing.I also recommend getting an duster applicator. The downside, it comes in a ziplock bag. But it works si well, i don't even care.

Had roaches...
Had roaches. HAD roaches. Not no more. Don't waste money on pest control or other gimmics. Dust all holes door ways and crooks and crannies of your home with this stuff and you will have NO BUGS.

Worked like a charm, but only needed a teaspoonful
As it turns out I only needed a teaspoon to make a pint jar of solution to eliminate ants. But this was the least expensive of all options, mostly prepared and branded. This one is simply a double bag of gallon airlocks, sealed with clear packing tape. Shipped in a USPS padded bag, the cost of shipping 5lbs is more expensive than the product itself. If you have a local HomeDepot or Lowes, and you need to make a trip there, you can probably find a generic pack in smaller volume there for a reasonable cost and save the $10 shipping fee.

This is
Such a great value in comparison to the products made specifically for killing bugs (which contain 99% Boric Acid anyway). I just reach in the bag and dust it around the house and the perimeter. It really is safe stuff (just don't inhale the powder).I sadly got rid of my Carrom Board, so I haven't tested out if it makes the surface more friction-less. Maybe I'll try it on my Nok Hockey set...

Boric Acid Most Effective Substance to Eliminate Cockroaches and Fleas.
Boric Acid doesn't have a scent per se but roaches can feel its presence. There are many recipes to trick unsuspecting roaches into taking the poison. Powdered Sugar mixed with Boric Acid is an easy baited lure to make in mere minutes. You must use a light amount or else the roaches will walk around it. You want them to walk across it so it sticks to them and consequently it breaks down their exoskeleton as well as dehydrates them. They take it back to the nest or colony and therefore infect the rest of their relatives. Bay Leaves also are poison to cockroaches. You can crush some up and dust around baseboards and anyplace where wires or pipes eneter or exit a building. The price last year for 5 pounds was only a few dollars and it cost $12.00 to ship it from Florida to California. The price has increased however but it is pure and it does the job it was intended for.

This is great stuff! The powder is finer than the Boric ...
This is great stuff! The powder is finer than the Boric Acid Roach & Ant Killer by Zap-A-Roach. I filled my empty container from Zap-A-Roach with this powder and realized immediately that it was dispensing much easier. And the price, even with shipping, was a better deal. Of course, one needs to find a dispensing container, though I suppose one could just hand sprinkle from the bag. I used this powder to get rid of ants in my back yard.
