Good, But Smaller Minor Diameter Than Other #8 Screws
Overall I've been pleased with these screws. I'm using them to secure thin plywood to 1" square steel tubing and I'm pre-drilling with a 1/8" drill bit. I removed some and tried to screw in a stainless screw but the stainless screws were oddly tight. My digital calipers revealed why: the minor diameter (think of this as the "trunk" of the screw) of these screws is slightly skinnier than my other #8 sheet metal screws (of which I have several different brands and types). Thread pitch and major diameter look fine, but that slightly smaller minor diameter makes normal screws tight in the same hole threaded by these screws. For most applications this will not be a problem, but I thought potential buyers might want to know.
