Hotell is a really good read!
I enjoyed most of the stories here. Served up by a host who is the caretaker of the hotel off Route 66. He himself seems trapped inside the inner workings of a Hotel that lies between our world and the never world. The artwork is impressive although falls a little flat. But this series show’s promise.

A bit of advice:
If you're ever on Route 66, and you see The Pierrot Courts Hotel, floor the gas. Odds are, it ain't gonna end well. Very few leave here. 4 independent stories that do intertwine. If you're into horror and haven't read this yet, you're truly missing out. Get on board.

Good horror stories
Very well written and linked together. I liked how each story and character were connected. The art wasn't bad, either.

Creative gore
Very scary and unpredictable story lines that come together in the end. Fun art. Gruesome horror, not for the faint of heart.

A Return To Great Nightmarish Anthology Comics
All I can really say is... WOW! I've read other work by John Lees(both from the horror genre), & those stories were both 5-star worthy tales, as well!); but this is anthology horror- and that's probably my favorite kind of horror! And let me just say that this is one of the best horror anthologies I've ever read! The stories are individual, yet weave in & out of each other in clever ways. It's genius! Can't wait for volume 2 to come in the mail(I've pre-ordered it already)!!!

Tales from the El Royale
Reads like the crypt keeper ventures out and decided to get a nice little desert motel. I would recommend for anyone who felt the "Vault of Horrors" was closed too soon

Creepy Stories
The four intertwined stories were great! Each story was creepier and left you wondering why this was happening. A lot of surprises happened. The artwork was amazing!

IT WILL DRAW YOU IN…
Yes, the title of my review contains a number of clever puns and clues (well, if I do say so myself) as to what lies in wait for you at the Hotell.I’ll not spoil the fantastic way this graphic novel works its magic, but it’s a joy you’ll consume in one sitting and desire second helpings of upon it’s final panel. The artwork sits perfectly with the brilliant narrative, it’s unfussy and then wild when it needs to be, the colouring doing the same. These three were made to work together! My reasoning for removing one star from this rating was that as absolutely stunning as that front cover is, one of those images is nowhere to be found in the pages here which surprised me - I actually found that quite disappointing based on how much I had enjoyed every one of the other tales told here. One can only hope that a “Hotell 2” will beckon return visitors? I do hope so.I’m not a huge horror buff by any means, but if you enjoyed classic fare like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits as a kid, or Locke & Key as an adult, then you’re going to devour this.Just be careful it doesn’t devour you first.“There were voices down the corridor,I thought I heard them say…”

Horror at its best...
When it comes to AWA and horror stories it is this series that always comes to mind first. This is pure horror at its best, demons, clowns, exorcisms, serial killers, and that's just the first volume. In volume 1 we are introduced to The Pierrot Court Hotel, a lonely motel that doesn’t seem to show up on any maps but if you are travelling along Route 66 you may just come across the battered sign, though this is not a sanctuary or safe house this is a place where you will fight for your very soul. We get four separate stories, each person is at the hotel for their own reasons but in the end they are all linked in some way that ends the story in a conflagration as if hell itself has come to Earth. In the first issue we are introduced to Alice, an expectant mother on the run from an abusive relationship. She dreams of escape and of her child being free and safe but there is something very wrong with the baby, something unnatural. The second issue introduces us to Bobby and Muriel, they arrive at the hotel for a romantic getaway but one of them has other reasons for wanting to get away from it all, but till death do us part is not always forever. Issue 3 is the tale of Kristen and her desperate search for information on her long lost sister, her last known whereabouts was The Pierrot Court Hotel in the company of a serial killer. She needs to know what happened to her sister and get some closure. In the final issue of the first volume we get the tale of a father who thinks his son is possessed by a demon so enlists the help of a disgraced priest to perform an exorcism but is the son really just ill or has something taken his soul?Volume 1 was a great read, lots of twists and turns that kept you hooked until the end. With each story presented as a separate event but then actually tying in with the others in such a way that it makes you want to go back and read them all again. There were some genuinely creepy moments throughout the issues from the demon baby to the introduction of the serial killer and the things he did to his victims. This series is the stuff of nightmares and is written so well it really doesn't let up at any point. The illustration likewise alway keeps you on your toes whether its gorey axe murders or creepy dark tunnels as the character is being chased it all works so well together. Although these stories are all fairly well tied up by the end of the volume there are still so many unanswered questions that it was inevitable that there would be a volume 2.When I originally read and reviewed this series I gave it 8 out of 10 but having gone back and given it a third read I would up that to 9 out of 10. The whole package is spot on, a true horror story that crosses over multiple sub genres of the horror theme. There is a real under-appreciated mythos being started here with so many stories that can be told from this jumping on point.

Stilted as a comic but perfect for a film
Maybe I've become too jaded in my old age, but while this comic is better than average - well into the "good" category - it's not quite startling enough or original enough for a five-star rating. And the narrative gimmick of the maitre d' addressing an unseen, unheard guest just out of frame feels a little overly-stylised.I reckon those flaws would practically fix themselves if it were made into a movie though. It's so easy to imagine the Maitre D' as a Coen brothers narrator.

Chills I still have chills
Really liked the ink work, the way it opens up the stories like the tales of the crypt, a twin peaks touch and a good pace and shockers that gave me chills, route 66 is never going to look the same

Hotell is not for a vacation
Wonderfully written interwoven stories that share a sense or dread and intrigue from the reader. Shorter than I'd like, I feel the character progression could have been expanded on but all in all a good book.
