Easy install, excellent price compared to major marine stores. Works great. Was larger than expected, not the little 1" knob ones you see online. Fits in your palm nicely.

My boats wheel had a power knob that seized and the replacement was nearly $200. No way. This is a cheap unit, but I've been using it over a year and for the price I can't complain. I didn't use the mounting bracket, but put it through the hole already drilled in my wheel. It is not the standard thread size, but smaller. Fortunately I was able to get the included nylox nut onto the backside.

My boat hull design has a lot of twists and turns to the steering cable which makes for hard steering with one had on throttle and one hand on wheel. However with this steering knob, that's no long an issue. Very nicely polished chrome (316 stainless steel) with a black cap on top where the bolt runs through. This is a quality product. Solid metal knob with thick strong bracket.Drawback: my steering wheel is plastic and thicker than a typical SS steering wheel so I had to pick up a longer bolt and bend the bracket a bit to fit my particular wheel. A little work but works fine and looks good. If you have a SS steering wheel, consider this a dream. If not, get a hammer and bang away on the bracket until it fits right.

Does the job.

My wheel is 7/8" round and there's no way it could fit. The unit is too narrow at the bottom of the clamp making it impossible to clamp the 2 halves together. At most, the bottom clamp would accommodate 1/2" diameter wheel rim. Not worth sending back.

Tried hard to get this to fit properly on the wheel to no avail. Requires bending stainless to fit properly and I eventually gave up. Seems well made but that's no help if you can't get it on right...

Received this knob and it looked to be decent quality. I looked it over more closely and realized the plastic bushings inside were a little sloppy, and the hole bored in the center of the knob was not actually in the center on the top side. The lower hole was centered though. My wheel is a little bit too thick for the knob to be used as it is, but I figured I could modify the brackets a little, to make it work. After thinking about the hole being off center and it putting extra stress on the plastic bushings, I decided to return it.If your wheel is 1" in diameter, or less, then this knob will work fine. If you get one with the hole drilled down the center, and it is actually centered , then it would probably last for a while before getting sloppy. The only other thing I was not crazy about was the fact that the upper clamp is threaded, and threads onto the center bolt until it bottoms out on the shoulder of the bolt. When it is bottomed out, there is a good 3/16" gap between the clamp and the bottom of the knob, so the knob can move up and down that much when it is fully tightened. I planned to put a flat washer and a plastic washer in there to take up the gap, but never installed the knob, so did not get that far.I am tempted to buy another one to see if the hole is centered. If so I would modify as needed, and install it. The actual knob is heavy, solid and looks good. I don't mind the black plastic cap on the top.

Our purchasing dealer tried taking advantage of us and wanted to charge me $300 for a steering wheel with a helm knob. So I bought this and have since found a new dealership to take our boat to for maintenance lol. This knob works great and was easy to install.
