Excellent Replacement Smart Cylinder
The media could not be loaded. Great lock! The proximity feature is poor.... its only worked once since I've had it, and disabling notifications doesn't seem to stop notifications when re-entering the 200 meter radius to your front door, and you get notifications about "activate the lock now?" despite the door not even being locked as other people are already home. So it has minor "quirks", but overall I'm very impressed by it! I can give permission to anyone, and even state whether its permanent or temporary access. It's only the cylinder section so has no ability to auto lock the door for you, but that's fine for me. The Bold Connect optional add-on does allow for remote unlocking though! It was the only smart lock with SKG*** security rating (the highest possible) that I could find. This high rating is "lost" if you enable the cylinder pin entry feature (should you leave your phone at home, you could use the cylinder like a safe combination) but you're advised not to enable that for the extra protection/security.Installation was a doodle, but measuring or getting the right one was a little tricky. I first got the SX33 which just about fitted but was far too tight. I sent that back and got the SX45 and that's brilliant! Doesn't stick out too much, and freely turns with ease.I've contacted Bold customer support 3 times now with various questions, and they get back within a couple of days and all the answers are satisfactory and given me more confidence at the high security of this lock!

Very solid looking lock but the software isn't quite there yet
The lock itself works fine although it cannot actually tell you if it is locked or not only whether it "could" be activated. The software has a bluetooth proximity function but this does not unlock the door, it just pops up a notification that it knows you are near the door, clicking on the notification opens the app and allows you to activate the lock which will then allow you to turn the outer knob to unlock the door. Most times for me, the app had stopped working in the background on my phone so the notification only appeared if I then opened the app (bit pointless by then). I like the lock itself and it looks very well made but in hindsight, I should probably have gone for something zigbee or z-wave enabled and probably fingerprint activated. There is a wifi gateway available but the price has put me off and I hate having ever more hubs when locks like this should just pick zigbee or z-wave and stop inventing proprietary methods of allowing remote access.

Seems good
This was very easy to install, no different to any other euro lock cylinder. Software was easy to setup on both IOS and Android devices. We've had it a few months now and it seems to work very reliably. Looks OK, just a bit bulky, indoors. The outdoor side is unobtrusive.

Flaky, poorly integrated
The installation is easy, the build quality is good and it works in general.Few annoying details make it a suboptimal choice:- the app is not reliable. In the two months I’m using it, there were at least 7 occasions when it won’t open. I stand in front of my door, it spins the button meaning it’s trying to execute the command, but fails. Sometimes with an error, other times silently. Terminating and re-launching the app helps, eventually. Given it’s the default and the only free option to operate the lock (apart from awkward pin), be prepared to pay for the clickers or a hub :)- Bold only integrated with homey. Yes, no support for Alexa, Google or Apple. Or Smart Things for that matter. Homey. I don’t see how would a “smart” product expect to survive nowadays offering support for one solution? Is it expected that I started my smart home journey with this lock and this purchase will drive my choice of the platform? That would be wishful thinking, wouldn’t it?

Needs much improvement. Must press button and turn to lock
Takes a few goes to get used to the pin code....It doesn't say how long you need to wait if you get it wrong.Start putting in pin. After final number turned, wait 2 seconds and then turn to unlock, (if it worked) a double beep shows you got it correct but you can barely hear it outside. There is zero child proofing of the lock from the inside so always a risk of them unlocking and escaping. Constantly heard the beeps when the autistic 3 year old found it.In the app there is no way of knowing whether the lock is engaged or not. Mostly bought because mum forgets to actually lock her door. This lock does not turn on its own so you have to do all the manual steps yourself. The lock just enables the turning of the outside knob go engage the locking mechanism.I spent an hour trying pin unlock and found this is really a last resort option, but you could be locked out for some time whilst repeatedly trying your pin.The app on iOS doesn't auto unlock with geolocation as it claims. We have had zero notifications we were nearby to action. So totally reliant on the app to unlock. Have set it to 60 seconds engagement so it gives us time to unlock if we forget something, which usually happens.Cannot lock the door from the car as you physically have to turn the knob to do so.The hub, we didn't see the need for. If you could remotely lock the door then it would be worth the cost, but I can't see how it would offer anything extra other than allowing remote unlocking over the internet.

Keyless!
Only had this for a week and it's brilliant. It's a bonus that you can set a pin to unlock the door without having to use your phone.Concept is really simple, and as long as you've got the dimensions right for your lock, it literally takes minutes to install.Really impressed so far. For the pin unlock, you just twirl the outside door knob to align with your 5 number pin. 2 turns represents the number 2 etc.Well worth it.
