Plastic part breaks and pulls off, but otherwise great!
Update to my review.I think it's only fair to update my review of the Mushkin 32gb Atom. I was disappointed that the little plastic part of the drive was cracking, but Mushkin has offered to replace them, and these little flash drives are really great in every other respect, so I'd like to give them a five with minor point deductions for the plastic.I was in love with these; they are great, but of the 8 I bought, the corner of the plastic cap (not the removable cover) where the lanyard attaches broke off on one, and another is cracked across the same area, and the caps just pulled completely off two others since receiving them in July. When the first cap came off, I just put a tiny dab of all purpose crazy glue in it and stuck it back on, but the cracked and broken ones are disappointing.Otherwise they are great; wonderful fit for insertion. Great performance. I use them with Linux for a portable Operating System, and the Debian/Ubuntu versions (Mint, Zorin, Emmabuntus, Uberstudent, LXLE) all boot in less then a minute, and perform nicely when run from these Flash Drives.Maybe I should give them four stars?? I'd like to give them five!Mushkin.... please make a better cap.

other than that it's perfect.
The case is really difficult to get on and off, other than that it's perfect.

Just what I needed.
Tiny and quick. Protects itself as it resides almost entirely within the USB port. Also means it's unobtrusive when attached to your laptop. Only minor flaw in the design is no hole or ring to attach a lanyard to so I suspect that this thumbnail drive would be very easy to loose. Be a good reason to buy a coin purse to put these itty bitty drives in. Then you could walk around with a little pouch full of enormous amounts of data. Like, when is the last time you walked around with the Encyclopedia Britannica in your pants pocket? OK, more data than that but you get the picture. I got this as I wanted the speed of USB 3 so It would take less time to adjust the data on this little drive. I have a newfangled car that plays mp3's off a USB drive. It has worked well and is unobtrusive in my console compartment as well. It'll stay in the car until I add more tunes to it.

The one to get if you need a tiny thumb drive.
This thumb drive is everything you need if you're looking for a tiny drive. It doesn't get any smaller than this. And it's also not slow. Write speeds aren't great but I would say it gets well over 10MByte/sec for write when you're sending a few MP3s at a time. It copied a 50MB album in about 3 seconds which is good enough for me. It really shines in read speeds, where as opposed to my old full-size thumb drive I just took out of my car's head unit, this one flips through folders and loads songs instantly, and it doesn't stick out. Good stuff, if you need small, buy it.

best thumbdrives i've ever bought
best thumbdrives i've ever bought. no problems from the dozen of so i have. made several of them bootable. formatted under other file system formats. 32 gig is a good size for either linux or windows bootable drive. they're fast enough. buy two, they're small.

Don't buy as an everyday usb flash drive
Pros:its pretty fast, nothing too special but defiantly faster than any 2.0 usb I have.small, you wont hit and break it when its in use.Cons:small, its the size of my thumb nail, therefore very easy to lose.nowhere to attach the cap to usb - can easily be lost as well as the usb itself.good luck trying to find something that will fit into the key ring hole.very hard to open, not the packaging, but the outer case for the usb (probably due to its small size)

Less than one-third the advertised speed
This drive has a good capacity at a good price in a good size, but it's less than one-third of the advertised speed. In my tests, the best read speed I got was 45 MB/s. Now it's consistently at 41 MB/s. Yes, this was using a USB 3.0 port. This is nowhere close to the advertised speed of 155 MB/s. There is a lot going for the Mushkin Atom. It's nice and compact. It's a good price for the amount of storage it provides. It doesn't have a blaring blue LED like a lot of similar drives would. But I bought this for speed, and I didn't get what I paid for.

These work well and are small, but the plastic cap at the top breaks easily and then it's hard to remove the drive from the USB port.
