I just got into artisan sourdough baking a week or so before the holidays. Using Chad Robertson's "Tartine Bread" book as a guide, I crafted the Country Bread recipe into loaves that looked and tasted so good, they became much-appreciated holiday gifts for friends and family. In order to make this type of bread required several new tools of which I had no previous knowledge.This proofing basket is one of those tools and I needed four of them to fit my baking schedule. The basket is the perfect size for these loaves and with the fitted cloth liner and a flour dusting, the loaves pour out of the proofing basket easily. Then, I let the moisture evaporate from the liner overnight and the basket is ready for the next bake. These baskets also come with a plastic dough scraper so now I have four of them, too.If you're serious about making sourdough bread like they do at Tartine in San Francisco, these baskets will definitely help!

I have been working on perfecting my sourdough baking skills. I was excited to find these baskets! Really nice quality...sturdy and well made. I was glad to get the liners with them as I prefer a smooth top on my bread. I washed the liners before using them, I floured them well and the result was beautiful! The added bowl scraper was a help as I always make two loaves at a time...great for cutting the dough, and it works well in shaping the loaf as well. Very satisfied!

The basket and scraper are just fine. The book is incomprehensible, a sloppy collection of blog entries I suppose. I only skimmed it but measurements and ingredients in so many didn't match the actual text of the recipe and the description was not easy to read, let alone clear to follow.

This basket is just the right size for the recipe that I'm using. Since I'm still new to making sourdough bread, I can't give an "expert's" opinion on artisan bread making, but this basket seems like it will hold up to my goofs along the way. The scraper is a nice bonus!

Made artisan bread for the first time and it came out perfect! Great basket for the final proof. Love the ridges that are left in the bread. Makes my bread look professional. Would buy again.

I am very pleased with the ease of handling my round loaves with this basket. With just a small amount of flour in the basket, there is no sticking problem-- and the loaves turn right out. The rings on the finished loaves, created by the basket, give the bread that professional look.

Purchased my first banneton & wasn't disappointed with the quality. Instructions for seasoning and prepping the banneton were spot on. My sourdough round released easily from it. Banneton wasn't intimidating to use as a newbie to baking sourdough bread.

This is a great banneton. I appreciate that it came with the canvas liner ... it's great to use whichever way you prefer proofing your bread.
