For all aspiring Physiatrists
This book was recommended to me by a PM&R physician I worked with during my third year. I used it extensively during my audition rotations and found it to be extremely useful. Here are some pros and consPro's - very broad in scope with enough detail to provide a basic understanding of core principles. Question and answer format keeps you engaged while reading. Provides references for further reading to gain a deeper understanding of topics.Con's - too big to carry in short white coat pocket.Keep in mind any book of this nature cannot have every possible topic, therefore you will come across things not covered in this book. However the topics covered far outweighs the number of topics not covered you will encounter. In addition the book assumes you know your msk anatomy and nerve innervations. It does provide some basic anatomy pictures when necessary, however reviewing those topics elsewhere helps to enhance the information provided.I recommend this book to any aspiring physiatrist (PM&R physician) and may it help you land the residency of your choice as it helped me.

Serious decline in book paper quality
Purchased this recently as I had been using the 2nd edition since I was a 4th year medical student thinking about going into PM & R. Like others in the Secrets series its Q & A format allows for a more interactive way of review and learning than the classical method of book learning. The citations of literature after each question when applicable is a nice touch and efforts to utilize evidence based medicine are appreciated. The 3rd edition is noticeably denser than the 2nd edition as well, the font is smaller, lines are smaller, and the book is a lot more dense. The biggest problem I have is that the 3rd edition has gone to a horrible quality newspaper like paper. The older Secrets books used a nice white paper with crisp fonts that allowed for easier reading. The font as mentioned above is significantly smaller, making longer reading sessions difficult. Therefore what would have been a 4 star book easily or better, only gets a 3 due to readability. Here's to hoping that the 4th edition if it does come out goes back to the old Secrets font and paper format which was much more enjoyable to read.

Erros de tipografia e encadernação
O livro veio com muitos erros tipográficos graves, como os que se podem ver na imagem (não é possível ver o número das páginas) e páginas soltas.

Paper Quality not good
I'm a 4th year medical student going into PM&R and purchased this after my attending let me borrow his 2edition. The 2edition had nice glossy paper, so I was surprised when I got this to see that it looked like the pages were all photocopies on plain paper. I had to double check to make sure I hadn't purchased an earlier edition. I just got it today and I haven't read it, but if the content is improved from the 2edition, then it's very useful for my needs in learning the basics of PM&R in a Q&A format. Just scared to highlight/annotate because since it's poor paper quality, it will bleed through.
