Exactly what the speaker doctor ordered.
Isn't it nice when some works out exactly the way it is supposed to? I picked up a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers at a thrift shop months ago and decided it was time to mount them. But I wanted a mounting that was simple, cheap, and effective, took a chance on these satellite speaker mounts and found them to be perfect. The mounts can fit both single screw speakers (like my Sony) and double screw speakers, they can also be set up to be longer (about 5") or shorter (about 3") and come with the screws and hardware to mount to the speaker and to the wall (including dry wall anchors) The mounts also include the Allen wrench necessary to adjust the mounts and permit the speaker to be oriented just about in any direction or attitude. With the help of my cordless screwdriver, I had both speakers mounted nicely on the wall in about 15 minutes. (And that includes looking over the included instructions until I realized that one could actually ignore them.) Now these aren't the most beautiful speaker mounts, and they are plastic so don't try and mount some huge 20-lb speaker. But for mounting small satellite speakers just about anywhere, these will work just fine, and at about $10 the price is just right.

Worthwhile purchase.
These are fairly sturdy and the manufacturer provides a good selection of parts so you can customize the mount for your application. They also included an Allen wrench of the correct size to tighten the joints which was nice. I did have to purchase some different screws to mount the speaker to the bracket as the ones they provided were too long, but that was under $2 at the hardware store and with so many different types of satellite speakers out there they can't reasonably be expected to have a perfect fit for every permutation. If you are mounting to concrete, brick, or block walls, you will need to purchase different anchors, but the ones they provide with this kit work fine for drywall installation.

Perfect for my Bose surround speakers
These look great and work great, hold my 1996 bose speakers up on the wall. They are easy to adjust to position them just where you want them. I would say that the directions stink. The pictures are horrible, and until I figured out that I needed to use the wrench to remove the end piece of the extension and attach THAT piece to the back of the speaker, nothing made sense. However, they installed easily and work great, plus the price just can't be beat. I'm glad they have a 2 pack option, because that was all I needed.

Great, with a little modification
I purchased these with some hesitation based on the mixed reviews, but I did a little research and decided to take the plunge. One other reviewer mentioned cutting out a bit of plastic behind the screws used for tightening the mounts down. Sure enough, we found this to be a great idea. Why is this necessary? Well, each pivot point other than the elbow joint is a simple friction peg, with a hex screw pressing against the peg. The problem lies in the bore of the hex screw - it's not completely hollow. Instead, the bore ends in a thin piece of plastic, preventing you from screwing the hex screw in any farther. In writing this review I just discovered why - I remember on one of the more demanding installations I used these for that I noticed the male peg was caving in a little bit - I had overtightened the hex screw. Still, I would highly recommend removing this bit of plastic at the end of the bore. I used a thin fillet knife from the kitchen to do it. It wasn't too difficult but my fingers were a little sore after going through 8 of these (I bought a 6 pack and a 2 pack). We used these mounts on 4 Boston Acoustics CS 23 II's, and they worked just fine. These speakers weigh only a couple of pounds each. The other speakers we used them on were far more demanding - a pair of SVS SBS-02's. These weigh in at 12.8 pounds each! I was able to mount these using 2 of the VideoSecu mounts on each speaker, using the extension arm on the upper mount to mount them at an angle. Even these monster speakers didn't bend these mounts. The people reporting sagging, I can only imagine that they installed them on thin drywall or something like that. I found these to be exceptionally sturdy mounts when screwed into a stud.I took off one star for having to remove the plastic from the bore to get a really good friction contact, but other than that these really did impress.
