Great unit
We have an older unit and wanted a second one, and got this. It is very quiet compared to the older one. It seems to cool much better as well. The only complaint I have is the bracket that goes into the window doesn't fit well, like the older model, and we had to add some wood around it to get it to sit properly. I imagine all windows are different, so it may fit better in a different style window.

Don’t waste your time or money
This has been by far the worst purchase experience I have ever had. De’Longhi won’t protect your purchase, even from Amazon, because AMZ don’t sell their products directly. No joke, their website tells you which dealers are authorized and since only AMZ is covered but not third party sellers, you won’t be protected.Thankfully, AMZ will protect you after a long, tedious process, but it took months to get my money back after all the struggles with De’ Longhi to get any help. De’Longhi will not help you with any issues if you do not buy from AMZ directly and AMZ is not the seller of their products. Even the Better Business Bureau could not help with the issues of one of their a/c unit arriving damaged. So, do yourself a favor, go through Best Buy. Their Insignia items are covered, they stand behind their products, and there is no hassle if you have an issue.

Just what I needed
expensive, but just what I needed. I replaced this with a portable ac that sounded like you were standing behind a jet. This is really quite and I love the eco home mode that modifies the temperature based on room comfort. I bought this for my rescued chinchillas room (they can die if it gets over 74 degrees). It’s awesome because it’s relatively silent (maybe that’s just due to my previous jet sounding ac that never shut off or modified). My windows are not traditional so I have to jerryrig it into staying in the window. I would recommend this to anyone who’s had terrible portable ac experiences in the past

A pretty good unit
This unit does a decent job of cooling the 700sq ft room I have it in. I use an additional fan to help circulate the cool air. I like that the remote acts as the temperature sensor for the unit.I wish the unit had wifi/remote connectivity so I could fire it up when I'm not at home, but it's not a deal-breaker.Important: like any portable unit, the exhaust pipe gets very hot. It's very important to insulate the pipe with high quality insulating wrap. Otherwise the pipe will vent excessive waste heat right back into the room.

No louder than a floor fan.
I bought this since it has the whisper quiet mode- which, when turned on is no louder than my floor fans. It is also a very steady noise - so I have found it easy to get used to while sleeping. I am very sensitive to noise. I have been able to sleep tolerable during the heat wave. For maneuvering- I gave 4 stars only because it is very very heavy. It is a little awkward to move to another room if needed.Overall, I am glad I purchased it

Beat the summer heat
while this is a heavy item (I asked for the take-it upstairs service delivery) It makes it well worth it. I ordered one for our TV room, with one of those great big TV's that produce lots of heat (perfect in the winter, but not so much in the summer) The De'Longhi 12000 penguin cools spaces nicely. I have found the noise level low, although it rests on a carpet in both locations in my home. So that may help with the noise reduction. It is quite the investment, and so far I am happy with its cooling and the remote is nice, but I didn't need it.

Only lasted 10 months (and with many issues)
We had periodic errors with the machine, and it only lasted 10 months total. For the high price tag, I expected a lot more. The last AC unit we had lasted 10 years! This one was a complete waste of money.

Weak Blower
I've been running this thing for about 2 days now... and while the air coming out is cold... the blower is pretty weak. It just doesn't move that much air. It also blows more 'up' than 'out' so the cold air it produces is not getting into the room very well. I have additional fans trying to circulate the cool air to the remainder of the room. I've got the unit in a finished attic that does tend to get warm. It was about 82 degrees outside today and this unit has been running all day. It only managed to keep the temperature from breaking 84 degrees inside. Better than nothing but not what I was hoping for. I even bought the insulated sleeve for the window hose. (That was tough to get on but it does work well, the hose radiates almost no heat back into the room with the sleeve on.) I have really small windows up here and most window units will not fit... so I had to try a portable. Like I said, I guess it's better than nothing at all.
