Playing these songs makes me so happy & satisfies my Hamilton Obsession
This songbook is a great gift for yourself or for anyone who plays a little piano and who loves the Hamilton CD-- even if they haven't played much piano since they were a kid (as I hadn't until recently).Even tho it says "Easy" , most of the songs were not very easy for me to play (esp while singing ) AT FIRST but I love the CD/musical so much that I was motivated to practice with these ez versions of Lin Manuel Miranda's brilliant work. And the melodies are so pretty, I CAN make the songs sound recognizable, albeit slower than intended, but they still sound great... which motivates me to practice more to improve. My three favorite songs in this book are-You'll be back-Dear Theodosia-BurnI wish there were more songs included (esp the heart-stopping "Unimaginable" piece ).But I am happy that I bought this book -- it brings back to mind the many great mini-stories within the play and the joy I felt when I finally got to see Hamilton when it came to DC after I obsessively checked the Kennedy Center website each day until I found tickets at a reasonable price (knowing pricey seats sometimes come available at a drop in price a few days before the performance...so if Hamilton is coming to your city , you might try to do the same.)It was worth the price to support the arts/gift tickets to my husband for us to see it for his birthday. Husband wasn't as obsessed w/ it as I, but he did enjoy the soundtrack which I played for him in the car on a long trip. We both agreed it was a fantastic performance at Kennedy Center, a great gift to the world ... ( he even says my piano-playing renditions are "good"(!)(I'm not good, but not as bad as I was when the songbook first arrived. Miranda's chords/melodies are so pleasant, they really do sound good even played poorly/unevenly and at a pace far slower than on the CD and on stage--which is great incentive to practice:)

Perfect for that growing piano impresario
My 14 y/o grandson asked specifically for this book for Christmas. He plays well and wanted an easy-to-play book for starting on this collection.

Pretty dang easy
Pretty dang easy, very satisfying to my intermediate-level children with Hamilaria. A beginning player will have to work to get the songs but could do it; an intermediate player can sight-read fairly easily. In some pieces, the repetitive whacking of one note for rapping "melody" line in right hand gets a little wearing to the listener (me) but is still fun for the piano player, according to reports from the childish ones. The more melodic songs are also represented here; clearly there was an attempt to choose melody-in-the-right-hand-friendly selections to include. Dear Theodosia, You'll Be Back, Burn, and That Would Be Enough are very listener-pleasing.If you want to sing along and do the fast-paced songs and you have intermediate or better piano skills, get the Vocal Selections instead. You'll get the same songs with more complexity, but you will have to sing (or play melody instead of right hand accompaniment). If you just want to play the songs with melody in the right hand, this Easy Piano Selections is a great choice.

Emphasis on EASY
I've been playing the piano on and off for many years, but I don't put a ton of time into it so I'm not great by any means. I wanted a book of arrangements that I could learn and enjoy fairly quickly. That said...this book was almost TOO easy for me. It would be great for a beginner, but for anyone with some experience you'll probably want something more challenging. The song selection is also a little odd to me. I get that "Alexander Hamilton" and "My Shot" are the main songs in the show, but they have a lot of rapping and sound terrible on the piano. Meanwhile, songs like "History Has Its Eyes On You" or "It's Quiet Uptown" I think would be beautiful piano tracks, but they were left out.My biggest complaint is the changes they made to some of the songs to make them easier. In my favorite song from the musical, Wait For It, they changed the key and completely CUT OUT the bridge, which is my favorite part of the song! I'm in the process of writing it back in myself using an arrangement from a harder book for reference, but it's a royal pain. I think they easily could have left it in and arranged it differently to be less challenging. That's why I knocked off a star. I can't complain that it's too easy when I ordered a book that has "easy" in the title. But I am annoyed with some of the unnecessary changes they made to the songs in favor of making an easier arrangement.

Easy piano but just right
I was disappointed that Amazon didn't offer a "Look Inside" for the music as I appreciate seeing the key signature (0-2 sharps / flats on this one) and difficulty of music. However, took a chance and am very pleased with the music. I'm an intermediate player and enjoy being able to sit down and play without a lot of prep. I didn't want a "big note" piano book and this delivered, being a step above in my opinion. Some of the music is rhythmically complex for me so an easier music helps. It's written for piano so the songs sound really good. Nice selection of the songs too. I recommend this book.

But if you love Hamilton as much as I do
I have been teaching myself to play the piano (practicing along with my ten year-old as he takes lessons) for 2 years. This is right on my level. Because many of the songs include lots of rap they are not very melodic, and may not be too pleasing for the listener. But if you love Hamilton as much as I do, you can look past that and have fun rapping along as you go. I do really wish that it included "Quiet Uptown" , "What'd I Miss?" and "Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story." Those songs have much more of a melody to them than many of the songs they included in the book. Don't get me wrong- the rap songs are some of my absolute favorites from the musical; but they do not translate very well into an easy piano book in my opinion. My favorite song in this book is "Burn." Its so pretty!
