Persephone: Hades' Torment Paperback – November 23, 2021

The story was surprising and artwork stunning

I bought this thinking it was a regular book but it's a graphic novel. It's still great all the same. Short, sweet, and pretty. Wish there was more!

I love Greek mythology, especially the story of Hades and Persephone. This is an interesting take on the myth. While most versions of the myth have Hades being struck by Eros's arrow, they don't say Persephone was. I would have liked to seen the author delve more into Persephone falling in love with Hades. I think it was handled somewhat sloppily. It's not a bad graphic novel I thought it was cute. I just don't like how our rebellious Persephone goes from respecting Hades -and maybe having a slight crush on him because he's like the first guy who doesn't want to get in her dress- to getting poked by Eros's arrow and boom! Smexy Smexy time! I know that's how the arrows work but as I said earlier, I would have liked to see more depth in building their relationship and falling in love. I like the characters. I love the art and style.

A more romantic drama comedy of the tale of Hades & Persephone. Leaving out the darker version of the story. And instead takes the romantic version instead where both Hades and Persephone fall in love with one another. Giving them more personality and growth by having Persephone already having a crush on Hades. And Hades being struck accidently by cupid's 💘. At first he resist it, but soon realizes fate had other plans for him. I love the character designs and storyline, giving it a light hearted tone.

I LOVE the art and the story is nice but I was very surprised by how short it was. I was also drawn in because I love a little *spice* in a story but the sex scenes are so out of the blue. The initial moments make sense since the story is so quick but the ending scene was so random. I wish those pages had been used to create more of the story instead.

The book itself arrived quickly and undamaged, shrink-wrapped.The story is nicely rewritten, the original telling having more involvement with Aphrodite. The art style is lovely, and the color scheme, while minimalist, is beautiful, reminiscent of art nouveau. It is fast-paced, but I'm happy to have purchased it. Recommended for any fan of the Hades and Persephone myths.

THE DETAILS?!The individual panels: there were at least three times where I had to stop reading and processMy only complaint is that I wish there was more. I’d buy a second book in a heartbeat.

Such a beautiful and fun take on the classic hades x persephone story and the artwork is so pretty!!
