Great Book!
At first I got the feminist vibes from this - but (for guys at least!) read it through - it's really good!I have quite a 'Huna' background & I enjoyed Sondra's take on it.Always learning!'Not all wisdom is in one school' : )

great wishes
Once again, Sondra brings her incredible word to the public. The more and deepere you look into spirituality across the universe, the more you cometo understand the Universal Principles so clearly described, storied, and shared in this book.

Pele's Wish
Being a Pele devotee and a student of Hawaiian religion and philosophy, I couldn't wait to read this book and was sadly, very disappointed. I felt this was more of an examination of Ray's life; an edited version of what she experienced. I did not feel at all like she shared her lessons or taught me anything about Pele's Wish. The book felt rushed and incomplete to me. Her mission statement remained frustratingly remote and opaque. There are better, more useful books on the subject of Hawaiian religion and healing such as Connie Rios' "Ka Hana Pono" book and cards which are actual tools to connect you with Spirit. Still, I am glad Madame Pele is finding new audiences (hopefully). Aloha oe.

Heavy New Age, watered-down Huna
While there is some interesting Hawaiian folklore in this book related to how the Goddess Pele is understood on the island, most of the book is, in my opinion, a very oversimplified summation of Huna: a metaphysical system merging New Thought with Hawaiian beliefs. The book doesn't explain the complex origins of what its presenting, and is, in the end, a story about a Western white woman's personal interpretation of her encounter with Pele and her attempt to practice and understand a Western white interpretation of Hawaiian spirituality. If you are interested in personal narrative of the spiritual journey, then perhaps you'd like this, but I was wanting a text on Pele and Huna and just got a watered down New Age text with Hawaiian images. Now, don't get me wrong: I actually have a deep love for Huna. I am always eager to explore new angles on its Triple Soul philosophy. This work, however, barely skims the surface; it fails to give any solid detail on the "meat and bones" of Huna. I recommend "Fundamentals of Hawaiian Mysticism" or Victor Anderson's "Etheric Anatomy" to those who want to unlock the mysticism of Huna in their life.

Loved that article and love this book
I remember reading an article in "New Woman" magazine back in 1975 by Sondra Ray. Loved that article and love this book. Very interesting and easy read. Thank you Sondra!
