The Baltimore oriole (or Northern oriole) is flame-orange and black with a solid black head. The carving has an overall height of 6.5 inches; the bird is 2.75 inches high and 7.5 inches from beak to tail. All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
